Memories

I remember back in college days I had a short, dark, bald Iranian professor with a mustach whose last name was Pourbabaii !

He was trying so hard to melt in with the American teachers and he never said a word about his Iranian background. One day while in private I asked him "Are you Iranian"?! Ofcourse I was laughing inside because his sunburned face screamed "Dehati/Shahrestani Iranian", he hesitantly looked down and shook his head yes, then started speaking English again while changing the subject. So from then on I never said a word in Farsi to him but I pitied him for selling out his identity for money & position.

After all, if we don't love who we are, how can others love us?!

    Hardly have I seen a Los Angeles Iranian who can pronounce English words correctly , particularly , "Sure" , "Message" , "CNN" , "Down-town" or a slew of words that have turned into common mistakes by these folks .   

     The last guy has been overseas for only 6 months and he has not only forgotten his farsi but speakes it with such heavy western accent .

   Interestingly most  Iranians In Los Angeles , fit into this category . They use a lot of English words and  most of the time,  they pronounce them incorreectly .

همونجور که پيش از اين ياداوري کردم و خودتم هم به درستي انگشت رو ايراد گذاشتي , کرم از خود درخته و ارج امامزاده از کليددارش مياد . ما همه چيزو همين الان ميخوايم ولي زمان پرداختش پسادست(نسيه)  و همين روش رو با فرهنگ و زبون و شناسه خودمون بکار برده و ميبريم تا کارمون با زرنگ بازی جور بشه و خرمون از سر پل بگذره . تياتر همون تياتره و تنها اکتورها و مليجکهاش جابجا شدن وگرنه سستی و کوتاهی خودمون رو بگردن بيگانه نهادن بهانه اي بيش نيست و کرم از خود درخته که نون رو به نرخ روز خوريم و فرخه(رقاصي) به ساز مطرب و رامشگر بيگانه کنيم . کوتاه سخن اينکه مطرب ها ميان و ميرن چه عربش و چه مغول و تاتار و روس و انگليس و ما هنوز در پی قر دادن و پُز چيزی که يه شاهی در بارش نميدونيم و سده هاست با فرهنگ بيگانه تاق زديم.

بدبخت مردمی که نداند ز ريشه اش
بدبختر ز او که نخواند ز ريشه اش
بدبختر از اين , دو گروۀ نفهم و شوت
باشد چو امتی که بخندد و زند تيشه ريشه اش

سمسام جان،قربانت گردم...اینها همه بهانه است ! عرب و عرب کار آنقدر خیانت به اصل ادبیات ما نکرد که خودمان کردیم و که لعنت بر خودمان باد..این ایرانیها که ما دیدیم دریغ از یک کتاب خوانی و دریغ از یک مطلب ادبی‌ و غیره خوانی ! اکثریت مدعی العموم خلقند و اما در امر محترم دانستن پارسی زبانان به هیچ رفتار کنند،حال آدم از این همه تزویر و ریا به هم میخورد !

تف سر بالاست..هر چه گوئیم بدتر است و آنچنان که ایرانی که از رو نمی‌رود و باز میاید و داری واری می‌گوید و به دنبال پاسداری از فرهنگش نیست و دائم فرنگ زبانی‌ بلغور می‌کند و خود را بهر علم و دانش پارسی میداند و صد‌ها نظر سیاسی و فرهنگی‌ میدهد ! .. اینها در آینده ایران نقشی‌ نخواهند داشت و خود موجبات بی‌ آبرویی خود را شکل میدهند.

خداوند حضرت سمسام عزیز را برای ما حفظ نماید.

We, the expats, all do it unconsciously or otherwise ... but we are too self-involved to realize it

But here is a good one; recently, a fellow Iranian kindly offered me lessons on how to write Pinglish(Finglish-I still don't know which is the correct term). I really admired his self-confidence and the fact that he actually believed, "he has the knowledge of yet another language other than Farsi and English"!!  I asked him: whether he means phonetic writing? He replied: Not while phoning you illiterate idiot!! You only use it to send text messages and emails!! Followed he added: God, and you call yourself an IT guy!! ... I was then absolutely achmazd, perplexed and gone WoW!

هفتاد درصد اين زبون عربيه که اخيرن به ثمن بيضه و نعمت حکومت ولايی ماشاء الله به درجۀ اکبر و اکمل يه خروار مفعولن و فعولن اضافي توش تنقيه کردن که الفارسي شده زبون روضه خوني و زيارت نامه سيد الشهدا . و حالا عزاداری امام حسين راه انداختن و گير دادن به دوتا و نصفی لغت فرنگی و عنگليسي که واي واي. با صدی هفتاد لغات عربی که اليومه بلغور ميکنيم چکار کنيم.  يا شايد چون اينا اخويِ عرب مسلمونن پس خيالی نيست و نماز خوف جايز نيست که المنزل و النازل .  اين اش رشته اينقدر شوره که يه مثقال قليل و ثقيلش فرقی در  طعمش نداره . ميگن ديگی که برای ايران نجوشه بزار سر سگ توش بجوشه. ولی خداييش اون جواد آخری عجب سوژه ای بود :) .  بايد ببرنش تو پارازيت مُجريش کنن مثه اون دو تا کلولس جوکر ديگه.

the last guy was really funny. the faux accent reminded me of the farsi that was spoken with fake british accent in the old iranian show "daliran tangestan." i also once knew an iranian woman who had just been in the u.s. for 2 years.  she came over after getting her diploma in iran.  she'd say that she can't write letters in farsi anymore.  :)

بیشتر خانواده من در امریکا زندگی میکنند...هر بار که میرم به زیارتشون...شبها  هنگام گپ زدن یک کاسه  روی میز میزارم

به ازای هر واژه انگلیسی که وسط فارسی میاد باید گوینده ۲۵ سنت بندازه تو کاسه

معمولا پس از ۱۰ روز کاسه پر میشه

یک برادر هم دارم که از اول ۱۰ دلار میده..و خیال خودشو راحت میکنه.

اگه ایران آزاد بشه و این ماساچوستی ها بریزن تو ایران...ممکنه خر تو خر غریبی بشه

نه خیر ! این ادا اطوار‌ها مخصوص آمریکا نشینها..ایضا انگلیس نشینها هست ! کسی‌ که به مملکت عشق ورزد..هیچ وقت زبانش را فراموش نمی‌ کند،ما بیش از ۳۰ است که از مملکت خارج شده ایم و افتخار می‌کنیم که هنوز به پارسی سخن میگوییم (هر چند که در زندگی‌ واقعی‌ بسیار به ندرت ایرانی میبینیم،تنها تماس اینترنت است!) ... خجالت بر کسی‌ که بالای ۴۰ سال باشد و زبانش را فراموش کند،آن هم زبان پارسی که از همه زبانان برتر است.. این غیرت و ناموس برای چه روزی خوب است !؟

Funny!

I came across the GezMagez YouTube channel today and I was impressed. He's definitely got talent and the shows are funny: //www.youtube.com/user/GezMaGez

This guy is practically doing all this on his own. So if the production is not exactly as clean and professional as the Big Channels, I can understand.

This is a farce

This clip seems more like a farce. It seems to have been purpusefully rehearsed!

I would suggest to these people to speak English and mix in Persian words instead of speaking Persian and mixing in English words.

That's why a sheep herd needs a good shepherd:
