Ahmadinejad Recites Poetry
IBNA: The 5th International Fajr Poetry Festival wrapped up today in Tehran's Vahdat Hall. Delivering a speech Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said:" If I was a member of the festival's jury panel I would have introduced all the participants as winners; since entering a world of love means winning." During the ceremony the president recited poems of distinguished poets as Roudaki, Sa'adi, Vahshi Bafghi, Khayyam, Attar Neishabouri and Khajavi Kermani >>>

فکر کنم در این برنامه شنوندگانی مورد نظر بوده‌اند که سواد فارسیشان کمی بیشتر از پنجم دبستان بوده، و ذوق ادبی آنها کمی بالغ تر از اشعاری مانند:
وقتی به ایران برگشتن خواهم کردم
دو دو تا چار تا شعر خاندن خواهم کردن!

Mahmud: please DO NOT QUIT YOUR DAY JOB! you are only good at a few things "murder, torture, steeling election, fabricating the truth, and destroying Iranian culture", leave poetry and culture to decent people.

Since I know him to be a vile character, then this can not be good for Persian poetry.
Why is it that even vile humans appreciate Persian poetry? Isn't Persian literature then just a pretty canvas for anyone to paint themselves onto? For anyone to find high words to support any truth? Even a dictator can use it to justify his reality.
(This is also good material for a psychoanalyst to study before giving his recommendations to the court that will eventually try this man. )
