Actually Mammad, I was in Iran until summer of 1983

by Anahid Hojjati on

I am very familiar with brutality of IRI and that is why i blieve more forceful measures like strikes are needed. Many people in Iran talk about peaceful because when they say they are peaceful, they still get killed, if they said anything else, they would be killed in more numbers.

Khers had it right, where he wrote in his comment:"  به همین دلیل سر مردم شیره میمالند که آره، اگر لباس سبز بپوشید و در یاد "جنبش سبز" شعر بسرأیید جمهوری اسلامی "اصلاح" میشه.

Darie

This is a systematic sin that even the late Shah didn't commit.

by Darie on

No one has the right to take the life of an innocent,
freedom seeking person; no matter what; no matter if it’s the pope or any other
living authority in the world. This is an atrocity committed on Haleh's
father's funeral. Why on this day? Does this regime have no shame? They are
only in it for their own benefit, they don't care about people. I long to see
the day the world court brings the Mullahs to justice for murdering innocent
individuals seeking democracy just like they will do to Mubarak. That day is
coming soon!!

Tof  be rooheh har
akhoond va mullah bi insaaf ke dar har goosheyeh Iran hastand va sharmeshan
nemishavad mardome bi gonah ra ghatleaam konand. Mark these words "you will
pay for these crimes".

Let the people of Iran decide what’s good for
them, IRI’s Islam has no concept of democracy, stay out of politics please…

Mammad

Fine, now suggest a way

by Mammad on

So that you will not get involved in a long argument with people like me, describe the way you think violence should be used to get rid of these guys. I will not respond back not to waste your time.

Criticism is easy Anahid khaanoum. Getting emotional is understandable. Feeling terrible is entirely humane. But, suggesting practicable ways is not easy; it is often impossible.

Unlike what Kher says, the 1979 revolution was peaceful. Yes, people attacked the barracks, but that only happened on the last 2 days when the entire nation was behind it, soldiers and officers had deserted, the armed forces declared neutrality, and the regime was collapsing, and only few people died.

Besides, you and I can talk about the necessity of violence. But, so long as those who live in Iran do not feel the same way - and there is absolutely no evidence of it - it is useless and counterproductive to talk about it. We are not there yet at this point. Even if this were to happen, a significant part of the military should first get behind the people.

True, when a local regime commits crimes and loots the resources, one may wonder about foreign intervention. But, in Iran's particular case, the situation is far more complex than simply money and killing. This is a nation with significant ethnic minorities, with foreign-supported groups that have made it clear that they want to separate from Iran [recall those that talk about southern Azerbaijan, those that refer to Arab Khuzestan, those that talk about the Kurdistan nation, etc.], and for decades "intellectuals" in the west have talked about the necessity of disintegrating Iran. That is the dangerous situation.

Finally, we cannot separate people from what they believe in and then praise them or feel bad for them. Haleh Sahabi said, "I despise violence, and I am afraid of dying like any other human being." She was a leading member of Mothers for Peace. One cannot praise Haleh Sahabi without paying attention to what she and people like her stood for. You say, you do not understand the emphasis on non-violence. Perhaps because you [and me] do not live there to be in touch with the reality on the ground on a daily and hourly basis. Those who are, and those who have been hurt by violence - either themselves or by losing their loved ones - understand this deeply.

Roozbeh_Gilani

This islamist fascist regime will not go peacefully.

by Roozbeh_Gilani on

We all know that, lets not kid ourselves..

The violent clashes of 1980's between mostly left wing/MKO and Islamist regime ended with islamist regime's victory, because the regime, riding at the back of a popular revolution, still had massive support amongst the masses. That is not the case today, the regime is clearly and increasingly more hated by the people who matter most, the worling classes and poor.

What is needed here today is unity amongst opposition forces and correct leadership. The correct leadership would be coming from a political party/organisation which would represent and have the solid support of the foot soldiers of any revolution in history of mankind; the poor and working classes. The current leadership of the "green movement" is certainly not that.

Benyamin: I share your sentiment completely

by Bavafa on

And here is a message that I believe is worth reposting

"It doesn`t matter what her father believed or didn`t. it matter that she gor murdered innocently and there is no "justice" systemto go to"

Also, before any peaceful resistance or resorting to force, more then any thing else we need unity. With unity, perhaps we can peacefully fight the crime and oppression that is being inflicted on our people (i.e self defense)

Thanks you

Mammad, until when people are supposed to get killed

by Anahid Hojjati on

and just be peaceful about it? Besides you keep talking about foreign intervention but what is about this regime that makes it any better than foreign intervention? Just because crimes are committed by leaders who are Iranian, am I supposed to feel better about it? I am not going to get into a long argument with you but to me, there is no value in a government being local if it is criminal like this. They are killing, stealing country's resources, making people stupid with what everyday is said in the media and in spite of this, It is supposed to be better than foreign intervention. I am not saying that I am for foreign intervention but please don't write as if these guys being local has any value.

Mammad

Anahid khaanoum

by Mammad on

If not peaceful, then what? Respond violence with violence? That will start a vast bloodshed that what happened in the 1980s, when thousands were executed, would look like a child's play, and will not lead to liberation and democracy. And, it will give the opportunity to the opportunists and turncoats - the likes of whom are also found here in this website and even this thread - to call for foreign intervention, which will lead to disintegration of Iran. Just look at Libya. It is already partitioned.

The great thing about Iran's democratic movement is that it is peaceful.

Anahid Hojjati

thanks Ghormeh Sabzi for the post and thanks MG

by Anahid Hojjati on

for the link. One thing that I don't like is this insisting on being peaceful in the face of all this violence by IRI. I may be wrong but I seem to remember that Ezzatollah Sahabi wrote an article some months ago that I was upset about it because it was just advocating being peaceful while people are going through this. Does any one have a link to that article by Sahabi?

This "zolm" by definition!

by Benyamin on

I think it is time for all Iranians to express our unified concern despite of our political stripes and believes and just simply condemn this act of murder!

It doesn`t matter what her father believed or didn`t. it matter that she gor murdered innocently and there is no "justice" systemto go to.

The IRI is against any voice of reason because any one thinking couldn`t bare to enslave him/herself to Khameneii. Therfore the IRI shuts down any voice of reason.

It is time to get united, because no one person has a louder voice than all of us together, no one person is smarter or stronger than all of us together!
