by Souri on Thu Jan 27, 2011 10:57 AM PSTSattar is 60 years old now!
Means that he was around 35 when he got married. His wife could well be in her 30's or 40's (what do I know?) divorced with two kids. Why not?
All in all, I can't claim I know the truth about his wife. But I know what I heard from himself and his friend (in 1975) is the truth.
Sattar married in 1980 so his wife w/2 previous kids is now 80?!

Dear friends
by Souri on Thu Jan 27, 2011 10:45 AM PSTWhether you want to believe the story or not, is your own choice. As I said, I was in direct contact with him for a few months. All I said was told by himself and his very close friend (who stayed always his very close friend until today)
I met Sattar and that friend (Mr. B.) at Noshahr. Then Mr. B. became my boyfriend, so were meeting with Sattar at some occasions. Even a few months ago, when Sattar was attending a live interview at Toronto TV, I called him and asked him about Mr B. He said that he just had dinner with him and his wife a week ago. He even joked about that, saying to me: You know? B. finally got married and now live in US. I just got a call from his son, last night. They are going well.
Anahid jon: For sure Sattar was living in Shahnaz Square (he said it himself in an interview) and also he was attending madreseh aali bazargani. But at the end he was not showing up so much, at the courses.
Esfand: His wife is a friend of a friend of my sister :) She was very wealthy, divorced with two daughters (believe she was living in Vancouver but not sure) When Sattar met her in a concert, he got madly in love. Kinda love at the first sight. ....and yes, you are right, they have a daughter together.

Souri jan, I don't believe all this about Sattar
by Anahid Hojjati on Thu Jan 27, 2011 10:23 AM PSTA family friend of us was neighbor of Sattar. This was north of Tehran around Meerdamad if i remember correctly. This was certainly not a poor part of town. Definitely upper middle class. I also heard from another relative who went to madreseh aali Bazargani with Sattar that he was a good student. That is what I have heard. By the way, Farahnaz was totally under 18 when Sattar was famous. If there were anything, it was probably a young girl crush on a singer like so many other girls had. I met Sattar about 5 years ago in a wedding inthe Bay area, he was the singer and he was the nicest person, very polite and friendly. I was so impressed. i had never seen an entertainer so nice in my life.
So Azam Nemati who is Sattar's wife?

No I do not thinks
by Azam Nemati on Thu Jan 27, 2011 09:51 AM PSTI m not sure where you got your elaborate story but your facts are incorrect.
I actually saw Sattar’s picture at one of the wedding of a senior in the college when I started in 1975. He was skinny and shy.
Parviz blue eyes (we called him because he had blue eyes) was Sattar’s best friend and neighbor from childhood , living in Shahnaz Square . They went to College of higher education for translation (Madrese Aali Tarjomeh) and one of my dear friends was their classmate and Parviz’s good friend so Parviz was often among us and no lives in Canada. When Sattar began singing, it was Parviz who would take him around and for a while Sattr remained in his odl residence. Also, my ex-husband’s sister and Sattar’s wife were sister in laws. For your information the wife was the one who was quite well off.
My boyfriend in Iran attended many of the palace parties and told me stories which later on turned out to be all true (especially about Farah but its in the past so it does not matter) but Sattar was never once was at those parties .
Ever since I saw Queen and I and I caught a glimpse of Sattar attending a party in Paris where you had to pay $50k to sit at Farah’s table, I lost respect for him and would not listen to his songs (he used to be one of my favorites). I am saying this so you know I am not defending him but want to set the storey straight.
No, I don't think so.......
by Souri on Thu Jan 27, 2011 06:20 AM PSTEsfand,
"BTW isn't Sattar related to Pahlavis through marriage?"
No, I don't think so. Even if it was the case, but this is not the reason for his devotion to this family.
I knew Sattar when he was young singer. He was often invited to darbaar to sing for the Pahlavis at any occasion. I remember even I asked him if the resemblance of his voice with Dariush, was not causing him a problem( If you remember well, when Sattar began to flourish as a star, Dariush was in the prison. Many were saying that Sattar was imitating Dariush's style)
Sattar replied to me:
"You won't believe it, but most of the time, the young Pahlavis ask me to sing Dariush's songs! Indeed even Farah likes Dariush a lot !!!" I was astonished.
The reason why Sattar loves this family, is that Pahlavis have protected him. He was very poor when he started. Then he was invited to one of the Royal ceremonies (I believe it was Shah's BD ??)
There, for the first time Shah heard Sattar voice and got very much impressed. He sent Farah to ask Sattar why he was not so active and why nobody knew him so far?
Sattar replied honestly that he can't pursue his carrier as he should, because he has to work during the day and going to the univesity (madreseh aali bazargaani) in the evening. So it leaves less time for him for the singing activities.
And from the next day on, Sattar became very active, he was gaining so much money that he no more needed to work. As I remember, he was rarely attending to his courses, too :) but now, he pretends that he has a BS in Economy, but I'm not sure if he ever finished his study :)
Any how, Sattar and Googoosh were the most privileged singers in Iran because of the Pahlavi's continued protection.
Once, Farah even ordered to M. Ghorbani to share his club (Kabareh) actions with Googoosh, because Googoosh was crying and complaining to Farah about Ghorbani exploitation of her talents ..........
But later on, Googoosh changed, but Sattar didn't. As he said in one of his interviews:
"I think we should not break the salt cellar of the one who gave us salt (nabayad namak bekhorim o namak doon beshkanim)"
Voila his story with the Pahlavi's family.
As you may have heard already, rumor said that there was also a love story between Farahnaz and Sattar.
we all should be united with each other and nice

Pahlavis, Neda and you
by Benyamin on Thu Jan 27, 2011 05:53 AM PSTI must express my outmost rage at those not respecting a man even when he is no longer amongst us. I must say I am ashamed that they exist. A man has fallen and gone for good, he is not able to defend himself and yet some people so clearly show and display their upbringing and their family`s culture and values so clearly!
Alireza didn`t fit anywhere in the west. He was a misplaced person someone who walked amongst us but actually never saw any of us. He was living in a limbo world hoping to go "home".
Those critical of his father`s actions or inactions must remember that Alireza was only 12 years old when all that happen. No one can blame him for what happened to us in the past, present or future. Simply put, "he was one of us".
He was searching for something, he felt the pain of living in limbo like all of those people living in it and experience it in Iran people like "Neda" I believe he had this in common with Neda and Neda like people. He felt not fitting anywhere as most people feel not fitting in an Islamic state. The pain of not be able to belong and be like others. he realized that happiness is not money, fame or postion but when everyone else is happy that is when you are truly happy.
I remember feeling the same when I was in Iran, I never fitted living in the IRI. I could never understand how some people could preted to be "mo`men" and yet do just about anything against islam at home!!!
I found it fake and living fake is not my cup of tea. I am sure in my heart most Iranians are tired of leading a double life and pretend to be someone and hide their true personality.
Limbo is what Alireza and Neda had in common. Two different world but same destiny
thank you "sattar"

What they should not be allowed to do is the exploitation of the memory of an accidental victim for their otherwise historically lost cause.
