Gets $1 million bid, report says

UPI: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's 33-year old car received a $1 million bid from an anonymous buyer at an auction for charity, officials in Tehran said. Ahmad Esfandiari, the head of Iran's Welfare Organization said the winning bid came from an unnamed Arab collector, GulfNews.com said Sunday. The president's French-made Peugeot 54 car along with 70 other cars from different countries will be auctioned off at Abadan in southwest Iran in mid-February. Details of the auction were posted on a multilingual Web site on Saturday, the Fars news agency said.

No one will be caught dead in these 504s unless you're a Mullah!  Notice an Arab bought it not an Iranian.  Mullah's in their clergy garbs ride these 504s in Iran.

Personally I like the model but it is now a hated car!

Is this a kind of self-censorship or pro-regime goons have shown their concerns through flagging?

They are censoring you right in the cradle of "freedom of speech".

Meanwhile they use this very website and the "freedom of speech" in
order to publish their backward and inhuman thoughts and nobody here
ever tags them as an abusive. You know why? Because "we are a
compassionate nation" towards our enemies!! We would like to teach them "what love and kindness is" and punish them with Persian wine and poems. We even censor ourselves to not to slightly insult
their rotten believes! And you know what? each time in power, they hit
us harder than the previous.

Should bring up the average price for this classic type, as well. Wonder if this car will be featured on the cover of said type's owner's club newsletters!
