Hooman Khalili: First Phone Movie

Co-Writer, -producer of "Olive", first smart phone feature film

Olive is the first full length feature film shot completely on a smart phone. A 35 mm lens adapter was fabricated to fit the smart phone in order to achieve a shallow depth of field. The film stars two time Academy Award nominated actress Gena Rowlands (the Notebook, A Woman Under the Influence, Gloria). The film simply put is about a little girl that goes into the lives of three people — an old lonely woman, a foreigner having a hard time acclimating in the United States, and an obese man — and transforms their lives without saying one word! The financing of Olive was done independently of any corporation. The goal now is to be the first film to not only be shot on a cell phone but to also be the first independently financed feature film on 2,000+  theaters across the United States without the backing of a Major Studio >>> Support us through KICKSTARTER

What a great idea! For those of you interested in this, I think there are already several cellphone film festivals in Brazil, Hong Kong and I think the pocket Films one in Paris is now on it's sixth year. Indiefone film fest and originaliPhonefilmfest, and iphoneff are the are the smart phone and iPad film festivals to check out. But this looks like a really high quality work. Not sure about the story though, from the trailer it looks to me like the little girl is going to turn out to be Christ. Personally I am hoping she turns into a vampire and eats the other 3 main characters. can;t wait to see it in the theaters to see how well it comes out, looks stunning though. Great job Hooman!

But I think they should have used a cell phone only with no attached extra lenses just to keep the entire project "pure"...
