Iran Upgrades Air Defense

Military claims improvement on S-200 missiles

ausairpower.net: The primary means of air defense in Iran, insofar as SAM systems are concerned, is the deployment of 7 S-200 firing batteries throughout the nation. The four northernmost sites are positioned to defend the northern border and the region surrounding the capital of Tehran. A fifth site is situated to defend facilities in and around Esfahan in central Iran, including the Natanz nuclear facility. The last two sites are situated at Bandar Abbas and Bushehr and provide coverage over the Straits of Hormuz and the northern half of the Persian Gulf, respectively >>>

Mehrdad jaan, I totally agree with you

It would also help if the IR cut down a little (I know it's a hard habit to drop it altogether in one go, after so many years) on its "marg bar this" and "marg bar that" attitude and stopped making mischief in the region.

Yes, by all means build up strong defences, that is sensible, but the IR would be much likely to avert a war on Iran if it stopped making enemies of countries outside of its club of friends of Syria/North Korea/Venezuela and stopped making Iran a target through its needlessly belligerent rhetoric and actions.

I totally agree with you. But in the case of Iran there are so many parameters involved. I am sure the IRI will fade away as a function of time (hopefully soon)

But we also need to keep in mind that strength does not always come in the form of military power and force. There are many nations around the world that arguably are weaker the Iran militarily but much stronger actually.

Lastly, the real strength of each nation comes from its people. IRI has not a very poor job (to put it mildly) in taking care of its people. Some real investment in that area may serve its needs much much more then few bombs.

"Only if we could focus a bit more on peace and less on war by Bavafa on

Countries focus on and prepare for war, in order to secure peace; there's no way around it. Wishful thinking will not deter invading armies.  But I agree with you in the abstract ... ONLY IF ... ONLY IF ... ONLY IF
