Blue Turban!

by Immortal Guard on

I like the blue turban of the Muslim commander. Blue is the color of pre-Islamic Persia as opposed to green the color of Islam!

Hey Ari I like what's about to happen! It gives the rulers a chance to truly evaluate the performance of their infrastructure and systems!

A bit of science about a 2012 disaster

by Ari Siletz on

There may be major communications and power interruptions/outages if a predicted solar storm hits Earth around 2011-2013. Not the end of the world but satellites, cell phone towers, servers, and electronic bankng systems could crash.  Expect some airline communication and power lines to fry and maybe food and fuel supplies will be interrupted. According to the National Aacademy of Sciences, a "century-class" solar storm could cause twenty times more economic damage than Hurricane Katrina. These solar storms have happened many times before, (in 1989, six million in Quebec lost power for 9 hours) but the coming storm will pobably be bigger and we rely much more on satellites and smart power grids for day to day life than in previous decades, so the impact will be bigger. NASA site explains.

Hoshang Targol

This whole 2012 thing ( supposedly based on "Mayan" calendar),

by Hoshang Targol on

turns out to be at least 100 years off!

The story as I've heard it, is that this number, 2012 was arrived at and calculated based on an approximation and transformation of the "original" Mayan calander to the Gregorian one. Somehow in the process, due to whatever reason, they goofed, and it was off by a century or so.

Then again what's a mere 100 years amongst friends. Sorry all you apocalypse enthusiasts, gotta wait another 100 years, that's all. Perhaps by then the whole planet will have melted down!!!

This is funny and amusing!!!

The premise of Nostradamus is wrong for few reasons. First it is not scientific. second it is based on christinan view and ideaology and third it only works if human race have done no progress in all fields specially wisdom and thoughtfulness.

Most of his predictions have come and gone and nothing has happened.
