As an Iranian girl who grew up in Tehran, I had lot of memories with this
song. In high school during each break, we would sing this song and dance with
it in the class.

I slowly but surely have learned to tolerate this kind of juvenile behaviour. My problem is that once in a while one of those beauty-and-dance contestants becomes a spokesperson for human rights or the UN envoy for this or that and starts hugging an orphan baby for photo-ups. 

Never increase, beyond what is necessary, the number of entities required to explain anything.

Iranian style dancing has been the strongest cultural link to the younger generation Iranian-Americans. Through this link, our music becomes available to them, and from there our poetry. For example, my daughters' interest began with Bandari style dancing in college, and a few years later I was happy to receive an email from one of them recommending this video of Khayaam khaani in southern Iran (I had seen it before).
