I found the Eastern/ Western dichotomy along the lines of Poetry vs Science & Technology very interesting!

Fifteen minutes

by MRX1 on

Isn't this guy's fifteen minutes of fame over yet? A guy who admitted that he didn't know any thing about Iran before he wrote his dopey book is now all of a sudden an expert in mideast and international affair.

This guy although very smart but also very funny character.

shahab

He did mentioned human rights issues and that it must be negotiated at the same time.  would you like the human rights issues to be fixed or would you rather this situation to continue, because your hate of IRI is more important?

He also mentioned that America should/will stand by Israel. That tells me that he cannot be trusted 100%. He admits to America and Israeli wrong policies and crimes, but still sings the same song with a different tune..

yousef

shahabshahab, you summed it up very nicely

by yousef on

In fact what you say was the essence of the 1979 revoloution before it was hijacked by islamists: A powerful, democratic, independent Iran which respects it's neighbours and other nations, and receives similar repect and friendship from others. 1979 Revolution was not necessarily anti USA, but people on the streets certainly did not ask for USA to come get rid of the shah for them, although khomeini did for sure.

Having said that, the key point at the moment is that the islamists from algeria to afghanistan, have served their purpose as far as the west is concerned. They are being hunted down and killed by their previous allies, the west, one by one. Islamist regime is the last islamist terrorist organistion to be dismantled by the west. It will happen, whatever this old man says.

Great Advice for Americans, not for Iranians

by shahabshahab on

He tells the truth about what is good for America. America will go a long way if it followed this apporach. However, he never mentions what is good for the Iranian population. He just talks about Iranians as the government. He wants the U.S. to be friends with the Iranian government. It seems that he does not care (and he shouldn't from the American perspective), what the Iranian population really wants. He wants America to succeed in building  a solid relationship with IRI. This is essentially Obama's hope and dream too.

Iranians should think about a different approach if they are unhappy about their government. America, especially Obama, will not help them, one bit.

Why Do Iranian have to settle for an Islamist Fascist Government

by mrramin on

I wonder if Mr. Kinzer wants his family live under an Islamist Fascist regime like Islamic Republic of Iran.

  • Why do we even discuss the fact that we have to talk/negotiate with these thugs?
  • Why the hell I don't hear some Iranian Guy/Gal with some balls saying we don't take this Shit no more (excuse my language) and we have to end this 31 year old nightmare?
  • Why some western guy should tell us that we should accept the fact the Iran's Fascistic Government is the best we can have?

Sheer Unabashed Glorious Fantasy!

by eroonman on

I love Americans!

They have such vivid imaginations and tendencies to such colorful fantastic fantasies.

The reality is unfortunately otherwise.

The US can't mobilize a sane or logical strategy for Iran, and Iran isn't interested in abiding by the wishes of the US or the world for that matter.

The US thinks it is still a valid piece in the greater global equation. It isn't. Iran thinks it has found a "better way" and is eager to find a way to advertise it. Iran's way is of course not "better".

When you have 2 administrations or 2 governments that are so deluded and so far off track from being realistic and logical about things they want vs what they can reasonably get, yo're goign to get exactly what we have today.

A lot of posing and posturing and mostly trying to make the other guy flinch.

At the end of the day, the people are the only ones who can make change happen. And that still happens in the streets.

Dariush A

One should wonder why

by Dariush A on

One should wonder why kinzer is not an adviser to the US administration?  Could it be that it is about world domination not peace?

Force is the only language they speak and that is a language Iranians don't understand.
