This is macabre. On July 21, 2008, the 27-year old mountain climber ascending K2 in the Himalayas, disappeared at 7,400 meters, and search for him was abandoned later on. Apparently he had had problems breathing and didn't heed calls to return. This video clip is probably the last one showing him alive and still ascending at 6,500 meters, quite possibly shortly before his death. News about him.

I have been climbing for over 20 some years and always knew if that was my demised, I was quite content with it and that would be the best way for me to go as I have loved climbing more than any thing in my life till I met my wife.
Now, we climb together :)

He was soooo young too. No, wonder my mom keeps telling my sister to stop climbing mountains without a rope.
My other sister at least climbs mountains with a rope.
Well, I for one have promised not to buy that Harley Davidson. I don't think her heart could take my demise.
If this is the view he was looking at...

He was not climbing K2
by Behzad Compani (not verified) on Sat May 09, 2009 12:07 AM PDTSaman was part of an expedition to Nanga Parbat 8,126 metres (26,660 ft) lead by Leyla Esfandiari. He was not part of the Iranian K2 expedition which took place the previous year.
Sad indeed.
