In social rights debates,

by human (not verified) on

In social rights debates, nothing is more debilitating than saying "i do, because i have to". And nothing more liberating than "i do, because it's MY choice".

Everyone has a right to choose. AND IT'S THAT RIGHT THAT NEEDS TO BE RECOGNIZED & RESPECTED.

And to answer your question: yes, if i decide to be attracted to the same sex, no one is going to tell me i have made a false choice. Just as much as no one, such as you, is going to tell me i did not have a choice and this is who i was born as.

Homosexuals, heterosexuals, and everyone have exactly the same rights. Its up to us to recognize and claim those rights. Not hurting anyone applies to all as well. Nothing of the sort you say was suggested.

so does this mean YOU could

so does this mean YOU could wake up tomorrow
and may suddenly decide that you are attracted
to the same sex?
No it is not a choice, for the same reason
that you didn't choose to be with someone of
opposite sex-assuming you are not gay that is-...
and what is with all this " don't hurt anyone"
business....are you suggesting by one being a
homosexual, there is that stigma that one
may hurt someone sexually?...are you mixing up
homosexuality with pedophilia perhaps???...not
the same thing you know, or perhaps you don't.

It is not a choice between deciding whether one likes
Coke or Pepsi better( I happen to like both though)...its an emotional and yes a physical connection that goes beyond your stereotypical characterization.
I love it how some non-gay folks do us a favor by
"allowing " us to live our lives within the
boundaries of our homes, but as long as we don't
take it outside, because "outside" is reserved
for "straight" folks only!
do me a favor, would ya....DON'T DO US A FAVOR!
and one last time...no it is not a choice!
after all, you are not gay, so how would you
know??hmmm?

Damn right it is a choice.

Damn right it is a choice. It's a choice of what you like.

Choose as you wish, as long as you don't hurt anyone else, it is no one's business what you choose.

Be gay, be straight, be happy.

NO It is not a choice. I

NO It is not a choice.
I have always known i was attracted to males unlike
many of my peers.
It is as innate to be attracted to the opposite sex as it is for one to be drawn to the same sex.
It just is.
I cant explain it, the same way a "straight" individual
can't.
It just is.

being gay is a choice?

by HEVAK on

When does someone realize that he/she is gay? How?
