Seyed Mohammad Marandi

Interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria

Fareed has the rare opportunity to speak with someone on the ground in Tehran about what is really happening, but he then questions why this professor was allowed to speak when high profile opposition figures are not. Watch to find out why:

An e-mail to Marandi

by Big Boy on

Dear Professor Marandi,

I watched your interview with Fareed Zakaria on Sunday.  While it was an interesting discussion, it was unfortunate to see Fareed humiliate and embarras you the way he did in front of millions of viewers world wide and in the process humiliate the government of Iran.

Sure, your comment about the protestors deserving the severe beating, torture, shooting, execution and rape was beyond stupid, but you certainly did not deserve that sort of treatment.

As such, I will e-mail Fareed and demand an apology from him. Fareed is not aware that it is entirely likely that your family is being watched by the savage militia.  It is likely that you made those stupid comments (you and I have seen the videos that police and basij are attacking people's homes, cars, businesses, attacking Tehran university, etc...) because you fear for the safety of your family.  That maybe Basij will do to your wife what they are doing to the young women that they arresting...gang raping them.

I will demand an apology from Fareed and explain to him that this is the kind of pressure you are under; otherwise no sane person would make the stupid comments you did.

As a side note, your thesis is on Byron and you are a professor of North American studies?  Why is Iran so upside down?  Tehran university can't find anyone that actually studied the North American political system, its constitution, etc... and hires a guy who studied poets and poetry to teach north american politics?

I guess if a baker becomes a minister and goat herder becomes special adviser to the President I should not be surprised.

Best regards,

Why should Farid be polite?

by choghok on

I think there is a misconception between Iranians that a reporter has to be polite. That is not the case at all. A reporters job and duty is not to be polite but to bring answers to his questions. When a reporter is met by a snake like Ahmadinejad or this bozo he has his rights to put the politeness to the side and be frank. Farid did not lie or exaggerate in his talks and he made it impossible for that snake to try to fool people.

Thank you, Darius, for the link.

I read the Marandi article, it is very interesting. I was wondering why the guy speaks perfect American English.

The Moron is an American Born Citizen too

by Darius Kadivar on

Born in Richmond, Virginia to an Iranian professor and a political prisoner under the Shah, Seyed Mohammad Marandi spent his first 13 years in the United States. He recalls a time he once loved NFL football and felt more American than Iranian. But since returning to Iran, where he volunteered in the Iran-Iraq war (surviving attacks with chemical weapons he believes the U.S. supplied to Saddam Hussein), his perspective on the United States, specifically its foreign policy, began to change.

Now, as head of the North American Studies graduate program at the University of Tehran, Marandi looks at the United States from a more distant—and vexed—vantage.

His turn will come, no worries

by mahmoudg on

Name him Bob, Ali, Mohammad.  All are names and are morons who supported failed ideologies and despotic systems.  They all were moved from power and so will these guys.  Time is on our side.  The only question is would the people of Iran finish the job or a combination of US/Israel/Colation forces have to step in and finish them off.  It shall remain to be seen.........

Although I amnot a big fan of Zakaria, but in this clip he really neiled Marandi pretty good. This Marandi guy didn`t have much to say inreturn but what losers always say at the end of every lost battle. Shame on him.

OH, by the way, he is right he isnot Ahmadinejad`s bigest fan but what he didn`t tell you is that he is a very big supporter fan of Khameneie which shows who really is in charge since he is freely contacted.
