برای کسانی که
freenetSun Dec 27, 2009 12:12 PM PST

mahmoudg, I tend to agree with limited surgical strikes
by Hovakhshatare on Sun Dec 27, 2009 12:44 PM PSTIRR has no qualms about spilling blood and we know that. The people won't take it anymore and we know that too. The tie breaker is whether or not the military (Artesh) will stand up visibly on the side of people. There have been news/rumors to that effect and as early as this week we may find out.
As the regime gets more brutal, U.S. (not israeli) surgical strikes as a support pose, and can target non-nuclear Basiji/sepah facilities to distract IRR and split its focus. This also separates this from the nuclear standoff. I do not see that happening however.
This is a fight for Iranians to win and it seems to be happening. I tend to agree with Khar's assertion also, that this regime will be gone by end of Persian new year. Today's events will put more cracks in this regime and its dreams and drive it to continue overplaying its hand and making more mistakes.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sun Dec 27, 2009 11:31 AM PSTI am afraid any overt foreign intervention is very dangerous. This is Iranian people's revolution. If the US really wants to help it should reiterate its respect for Iran's borders no matter what happens. Then people don't have to worry above separatist problems.

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sun Dec 27, 2009 11:34 AM PSTI really wish you are right and that we get a half decent secular democracy. Iranian people deserve better than the Islamic Republic.
This picture is unbelievable!

What Happens Next?
by SufferinSuccotash on Sun Dec 27, 2009 10:25 AM PSTI'm a standard American-type person who teaches Middle Eastern History among other things at a community college outside Washington DC. I'm highly sympathetic to what's happening in Iran right now, though I'm also convinced that US policy towards Iran has been really really dumb over the years. Watching the videos from Iran, I'm wondering where all this is going. New elections? A major split within the religious leadership? Defections within the security and/or armed forces? My worry is that if there is an all-out civil war in the country it could trigger foreign intervention in Iran and that's the last thing either Iran or the entire region needs right now!
their turn to die
by gitdoun ver.2.0 on Sun Dec 27, 2009 10:05 AM PSTThese cultists of khamenei can NOT be rehabilitated or reformed in any way. Violence and death is the only language they understand. They are EXACTLY the same as Al-Qaeda or Taliban. Only difference is one is a cult of Sunnism and the other is a cult of Shiaism. One say's Ya-Hazrat Abu Bakr and the other says Ya-Hazrat Khamenei

This is the start of a civil war
by mahmoudg on Sun Dec 27, 2009 08:38 AM PSTPeople, our Iran is in the midst of a civil war, the Mullahs will not leave in peace as the beloved Shah did. these M...F...ing thugs will kill millions before they leave, if ever. Our only solution would have been and is surgical attaks by US and allies, if we want to reduce the casualties.
