You are quite welcome, DK.
by comrade on Sat Jul 17, 2010 08:26 AM PDTThe story behind Nia, loosely goes like this. The word Nia, somewhat , means family or descendant of a family and can be used as a suffix.
The Shah allowed the cousins of his children to have "Pahlavi" as their surname, only if the line of distinction was prominently visible, so to speak.

by Darius Kadivar on Sat Jul 17, 2010 06:35 AM PDTYou are Quite Right, the article made a mistake which I reproduced.
Not quite Sure why he is called Nia ? Is that a title or an Adopted name ?
Wikipedia Source says Princess Ashraf had 5 children to Ali Qavam : Shahram Pahlavi-Nia, Ahmad Shafiq, Shahriar Shafiq, Azadeh Shafiq et Mehdi Bushehri.
I Just remembered Princess Ashraf's two children Shahriar and daughter Azadeh. I Couldn't find any reliable online source for their biography.
I did mention the Island purchase / Sell though ;0)
Son
by comrade on Sat Jul 17, 2010 05:31 AM PDTShahram is not Shahriar's son, but his brother. He bought the island in 1975, and sold it in 1998.
