Criminalizing criticism of Israel is the end of free speech
by Paul Craig Roberts*
As everybody was being distracted by the swine flu hysteria, the U.S. House of Representatives voted in favor of the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009. As soon as it is approved by the Senate, it will serve as a mechanism to undermine free speech making it a crime, inter alia, for any American to criticize Israel’s colonialist policies and brutal treatment of Palestinians.

Islam & Science
by Mehdi Mazloom on Sat May 23, 2009 12:26 PM PDTWhile I do respect the Iranian people, and appreciate the list of Iranian scientist above. One question begs. "where is the beef". What about applied science. Why there is only one (Chemistry) scientist from the Muslin faith is a winner of Nobel Prize. (oh, gee I forgot, Nobel prize committee is made up by infidels to serve the infidel. Biased against Muslims.)
So what happend to those Muslim scientific contrition in past 950 years?. Why did it dried up. Is it because the European Renaissance had begun?, or the Muslims leaders own ignorance and failures to see the writings on the wall, until it was too late. Or maybe there wasn't strong foundation for scientific discoveries in the Islam's cultural. Failure to transform sceintific theories into useful applied science. Medicine, Industrial production, space exploration, urban planning, transportation, agricultural - you name it.
Please, don't blame others for Islam Failure to continue the "golden age" of human development. Some of you pundit may come back here and flash that old and discarded "Insult against Muslim" diatribe. Nonetheless, these are valid and poignant questions which every rational and developed society asks itself every day.
Finally, getting into that perenial polamics about Muslims tangible contribution to humanities is all subject by itself.
Famous Historic Iranian Scientists
by smhb on Wed May 20, 2009 05:06 PM PDTThere are alot more Persian / Iranian notables that I have missed but this will suffice as a start.
After a dormant period Iran's scientific brain power has flourished and we will hear of these great young scientists in Iran in the years to come. Our young women and men are renowned for their mastery of various fields of science and their yearly medals in various Olympics is a testamant to what they can achieve. They are also the reason why Iran is able to achieve so much in various fields in the last 20 years.
The fact that zionists keep awarding fellow zionists is a funny thing but that does not diminish jewish contribution to arts and science.
Just remeber that all modern key sciences such as medicine, algebra, astronomy and chemistry go back to Iranian / Muslim scientists.

Zionism and Ghorme' Sabzi
by Mehdi Mazloom on Mon May 18, 2009 10:35 AM PDTAgain. let me clarify.
Zionism was a mere political movement. It was replaced by Israeli nationalism.
Zionism: It is used as by Israel's enemies as euphemism to "dirty Jew".
People are not stupid. They all know exactly what you meant by calling the Israelis "Zionists".
1L:
I never justified uncontrolled expansion of settlements in WB, nor defended the right wing Jewish extremist position in regards to the land. We may have historical and spiritual claim to the land, NOT political one. Most of the WB should be returned to the Pals, provided it will bring peace between the parties. As long as Hamas is there, these right wing Israelis will (and do) use it as an excuse to hold on to the land.

The whole desire to expand settlements and maintain control over east Jerusalem is fueled by Zionism!
On another note, please admit that Israeli settlers are just as extreme as Basijis in Iran. Did you seen the way they behaved when they had to dismantle settlements in Gaza? They become nuts and semi-possessed! How is this kind of behavior not tied to a religious frenzy combined with Zionism?

by Ostaad on Sat May 16, 2009 01:54 PM PDTthere's no such thing as Zionism in Israel, is like saying there's no such thing as prostitutiton in Thailand. You're entitled to your opinion, no matter how wacky it is, but you're not entitled to your facts. The terrorists state of Israel has no constitution becasue its reason to exist, which you allude to, is Zionism. Ask the Yabu, he'll tell you. You speak his language, don't you?
The Zionist state was created as a reaction to the persecution of the Jews in Europe, I agree. But now Zionism is used as an excuse for land grab, terrorizing the Palestinians and creating the oly Apartheid in the ME. Anti-Semitism is a shame but anti-Zionism, for which your are an apologist and an inept propagandist, is a civic duty.
ostaad - "Zionism" exists only in you head.
by Mehdi Mazloom on Sat May 16, 2009 11:15 AM PDTI told you agha. Go and get real. for the 1000st time. There is no such thing as "Zionism" in Israel. It was formed to accomplished an objective. (secure a homeland for the Jews). It did achieve it goal, and was replaced by Israeli nationality.
How much longer are you going to bark at the same tree?. Get a life. Islamism, preach of hatred of Jews, dhimmi and Jyzza against them has existed 1300 years before such thing as Zionism was created.
In fact, the creation of the Zionism movement was the direct & indirect manifestation of the discriminatory and despicable treatment to which Jews were receiving from the Christians and Muslims.
Had not been antisemitism in existence, there would not have been Zionism, and who know, perhaps there would not have been the need to creation of Israel.
What part of these FACTS don't you understand?.

by The Prince on Fri May 15, 2009 05:00 PM PDTYou said alot but you said nothing. You are just like the hezbollahis who redirect every subject towards Israel. You are doing the same thing in reverse!! You guys are true blood brothers. Are you sure khomenin was not Israeli? I always thought that bastard was Indian, but looks more Israeli to me day by day.
Stick to the subject. If you really wanna say something, say something which is related to the subject. Your tactic clearly shows that The Evil Govermnet of Isreal, just like its blood brother IRI is as brutal and inhumane as this article says and there is no defence for it.
I for one am totaly with Paul on this subject
smhb - you are still my farorite clown
by Mehdi Mazloom on Fri May 15, 2009 04:18 PM PDTMost true and moderate Muslims here will have to forgive me for a moment. By this guy/girl has been at it again. This koffur need to be brought back into the path of enlightenment, and salvation.
I don't deprive Paul's right of free speech. My question would be to you.
How would you react if for example, the same ultra-conservative Paul would talk and write about the manner which Islam was imposed on people throughout the region. Would you STILL treat him as "crusader of truth, and justice", if tomorrow he would write a book critical of luck of free speech throughout Islam. Why people should lose their heads for criticizing Muhammad's conduct, and they way he treated those who disagreed with him, or "resisted" his teachings.
No one in this world is perfect. Israelis have their drawbacks too. They are however are no different then anyone else when it comes to their rights to live in peace, under their own sovereign.
Enough with blind hatred towards another human being.
