Bullying of bloggers

Veiled Prophet of Khorasan

Bullying is a tactic used to silence dissent. It has been used by both IRI and its supposed opponents. The basic idea is that you throw unsubstantiated attack aka mud. Hoping it will stick or at least raise doubts about the integrity of the other person. Then the other person may be intimidated into silence or submission.

It is getting more common on IC. Some try to pass it off as jokes. Others seem very serious about it. I will give an example of it:

The post basically implies that anyone who is disagreeing with the poster on IC may be an "Evin Guard". When Iraj Khan protested the response was more bullying. I quote "There once was a Mola named Nasreddin...Well, you know the rest of the story  .-)" . To me this is a threat meant to silence Iraj.

I see the admin taking no action to put a damper on this. Maybe it has become "in" to attack people. There are many other examples. All you need  to do is say one good thing about "NIAC" and you automatically become an IRI agent. If the group doing this gets their way they will drive off all other voices. We end up with a site which represents one portion of the Iranian community. All others will either go or be driven off.

Another example is "putting words in people's mouth". A few days ago I mistook Anonymous Everyday for AO. Immediately a poster claimed I was implying that AO was using two IDs. Something I never did. Once I discovered my mistake I fixed it and apologized for an honest mistake. AE was gracious and AO said nothing. The other poster though went on to attack me some more for correcting my mistake! Am I to not correct a mistake? What does he want. I said I made a mistake; I apologized and AE accepted it. But the "other" poster still kept going on.

My question is "how will IC evolve"? Will it become a single voice or will it remain a place for open debate. For the latter to happen rules need to be enforced. Given anonymity of most people it is impossible to prove they are IRI or Mossad or anything. Therefore it these allegations are a waste of time. But they do serve the purpose of pushing people off; scaring them and shutting them up. Is this good.

Bullies are cowards

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on

Whoever is flagging posts around here is not brave enough to identify themeself. To his credit Amir made it clear he was not the one who flagged posts here. So we have a person who is doing it.

I will accept that Amir is not the one doing it. He was honest and brave enough to come out and say it. I ask again: who is flagging posts here? Do you have the courage to stand by what you do. Or will you hide behind double anonymity. It is really easy to hide behind your keyboard and "flag" what you don't like. But how about standing by your claim? I am going to post SK's definition of bully or something like it myself Flag it and I will post it again. Flag it again or add it to the main part of the blog.

Obviously the admin is removing the posts from my blog. Bud: I will post them to whatever it takes! Why are you so afraid of my voice?

Pledge for VPK

by Onlyiran on

Per your request, VPK, here's my statement and pledge:

personal attacks are wrong under any circumstance. If you disagree with someone's position, just state your disagreement, oor do  as I do 95% of the time: don't leave a comment and move on.

I also pledge not to say anything personal against anyone for the next month, even if I am attacked.  I will just flag personal attacks and will bring it to the admin's attention.  Hopefully he will take appropriate action.  Hopefully everyone will follow suit.

Seen anything offensive posted by Soosan, if that is the same as SK.
What was her posting about?

Who flagged SK?

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on

I just heard from Amir. He did not flag the post by SK who did it? Are you brave enough to stand by your action>? Or will you hide behind anonymity. Come on show me who you are?

  • Bozoryi gohari ast be kame shir; Ro khatar kon be jameh shir bejoy
  • Ya bozorgi o ez or nemat o jah; ya cho mardanat marg ro ya roy.

I wonder if the flagger was a none of the above.

Why did the comment by SK disappear?

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on

What happened to post by SK. What is going on here maybe I really should pack up; there was nothing offensive in her post.

Just for you I did listen to the song. It did not make a whole lot of sense to me. I do realize you don't like me. It is your right and by all means. However I appreciate if you would be more direct.

One thing I do is back up my points with proof. If you find anything wrong please tell me. I am perfectly willing to admit if I am wrong. I have done so before as recently as yesterday when I mistook AE for AO and apologized. I also respond to you and said that I should have made more of a distinction between Muslims and Islam. Now show me how many other people are willing to outright admit their mistakes.

Regarding blaming people. I do blame people who in my opinion deserve it. In particular those who label Iranians as savages or inferior. If someone called you an Evin Guard would you blame them? Please give me an honest response.

it is a comedy song

But to all the people who try to blame other people : listen and learn from the message.

It is always sad to see….

by Bavafa on

Bullying and empty accusation being used as a substitute for logic and reason.  If for those of us who have been living in a democratic nation and experienced it firsthand cannot employ its benefits, how can we expect the Islamist and thugs in Tehran and other cities to conform and use it?

  Thanks for writing this.
