Iran Introduces 100000-Rial banknote Amid Inflation Warnings

Iran will double the denomination of its largest banknote to 100,000 rials ($9.98), Central Bank Governor Mahmoud Bahmani said.
The Persian Gulf country will print at least 150 million of the new notes and distribute them over three months, starting June 22, Bahmani was cited as saying today by the state-run Mehr news agency.
The issuance of the notes won’t increase the inflation rate, he said.

by amgw4 on Thu Jun 24, 2010 05:08 AM PDTEverything in Tehran is as expensive as in the US. I went to a hamburger place and ordered four meals and it came out to $30. it's hard to pay with the $5 notes they currently have and those $50 / $100 cheque things are annoying.
Sorry my mistake. In March just 3 months ago $1 was 99,000 rials
