He was a great man who loved Iran

by omeedvar on

Watching this interesting video, and hearing from his daughter how S.Bakhtiar was treated by both regimes, reminded me of a memory. Early after the revolution, one day I was invited to a friend's house. I got out of taxi near their alley in Jamshidabad St. As I was walking toward their house, I noticed a crowd of about twenty men gathered in front of a house, listening to a loudspeaker. The door was open, and I could see the yard of that small house  filled with people sitting on the floor.

I continued to walk to my friend's house, which was half a block further. Suddenly a bunch of plain cloth thugs rushed to the alley, attacking everybody with knife, and sharp objects, while shouting "Allaho Akbar, Khomeini Rahbar". I was shocked and threatened when I sow blood pouring from the wounded people, so I entered the nearest house that had opened the door to help people, to save myself.

The owner was an elderly man who looked frightened. He asked me and others who took refuge to his house, to go to his backyard. He said,” My family and I will be in trouble if they come in, and see you here". We went to the backyard of his small house. I asked him, what is going on, and why are they attacking people? He said, "That is Shariati's house, and they are having a memorial ceremony for him".

Among the few who took refuge to that house, there was a young man in his early twenties. Looking pale and worried, he took out a passport from his pocket, wrote a phone number on it, and handed it to the wife of the owner, and said, "I am a student. I have just come home from Germany to see my parents. I am a believer of Dr. Shariati, so today I came to participate in his memorial. If they come in, and take me with them, please call my parents, tell them what happened, and give them my passport".

A well dressed man in his sixtieth that was in the group introduced himself and said, “I am a lawyer. I was opposed to Shah, so a couple of times Savakis came to my house to take me for interrogation. However, they never entered my house or disturbed my family. They treated us more civilized than these thugs".

I stayed there for more than an hour, because the owner, who watched the events from his kitchen window, told us it is dangerous to go out. The thugs beated and wounded many people in the ceremony, used tear gas, and took away many of them in security trucks. When I finally left, and went to my friend's house, to my surprise, the IRI TV was showing the memorial ceremony of Shariati on a street in Tehran!

And shame on all those who turned their back on him, especially those in his own camp.

A strong message will never die.  That is why 20 years after his murder, his message is alive and well and echoed by the new generation:

IRANI MEEMIRAD

ZELLAT NEMIPAZIRAD

And the anti Iran regime in Tehran will pay, and will pay big time. IRAN HAR GEZ NAKHAHAD MORD.

Asoudeh Bekhab Shapour Jan.  Jayat dar tareekhe Iran javidan khahad bood.
