William C. Rogers III is a war criminal responsible for shooting down an Iranian airliner in 1988, killing all its 290 civilian passengers (including 66 children). Instead of being tried for this atrocious crime, he was awared the prestigeous Legion of merit by President George H. Bush "for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service as commanding officer ... from April 1987 to May 1989". Why isn't the Iranian-American diaspora actively demanding that he sees his day in court?

Mr. Nasiri, here is what I was able to find for you.

by CIM on

1. The user Darius Kadivar has called attention to this issue.

2. The user Sobh has called attention to this issue.

3. The user BoosBoos called attention to this issue AND demanded that a US government funded news service that hires Iranians stop censoring the anniversary date of the tragedy, but the that user's account shows that it was banned.

The facts here seem to be:

At least three people called attention to the story; one of whom made a demand that the story not be censored on an outside network (There are no incidents of that user cursing or making unlawful threats, which is worrisome given that s/he was banned from the site).  Of course they can contact us.

As to this site, fundamentally when many people are censored you will not get the full range of voices heard.

As to organizations representing the Iranian community, it is a fair question and you should pose the question of this blog specifically to them.  E.g. "NIAC, PAAI, [whomever], why... [fill in the blank]?"

As to the people that own/operate the site, it is also a fair question you can pose.

*  After double-checking the links provided, there are a total of 4 comments on three blogs on this incident, which is admittedly strange; I checked against other such incidents involving other ethnic groups and there normally are a flood of comments.
