by R2-D2 on Thu Feb 04, 2010 11:14 PM PSTKhayyam's Philosophy is to live for here and now ... Period!
If you like Ostaad's singing of Khayyam's Rubiyyat's, here it is:
Shajarian - Khayyam - Shamlou
There are a total of thirty (30) Rubiyyats here - Shamlou is the one reading them, before Shajarian sings them :)
P.S. Rumi and Khayyam have a totally different, and in many ways, diametrically opposite philosophies to life - Rumi, in many ways, is much more spiritual :)

I saved the video......I like the classical Persian paintings at the end of the video. I tried to find Ostaad's Khayyam song on You-tube, but there is none! Last year, I saved this song with Khayyam's poem. It seems to be the prettiest Khayyam song so far (it is just my personal opinion):

I noticed that Khayyam wrote about wine and drinking a lot and I found a drinking song, :O)

I went to a stamp show last Saturday and found no commemorative stamps issued for Khayyam or Rumi by IRI. I wonder why....Is that because IRI bans drinking and Khayyam talked about wine and drinking too much? Other countries issued stamps honoring Khayyam big time:

The strange thing is that IRI has never issued stamps honoring Rumi either....or I may be wrong? I have found none so far....
Afghanistan issued a stamp in his honor:
