After seeing the posts regarding the insult of Abadani Football fans towards our Azarbijani hamvatans, I decided to blog this song.
Rahi wrote this poem when Azarbijan was freed from the soviet occupiers.

by Paykar on Sun May 22, 2011 06:57 PM PDTI feel I would be going too far if I were to continuously post Carlin's clips here. But as you know the man was truly one of kind with insights far superior to the learned intellectuals; his mastery of Engish language and the bravery he showed in attacking the Establishment towards the end of his life is first rate.
This one is just for you:-)

by Mash Ghasem on Sun May 22, 2011 05:04 PM PDTThose poor fellows, our fathers and their fathers, on the left, and their unshakable faith in the history of progress and all that . They would have severe epistemological issues in this day and age. All that teleology is bound to catch up with you at some point.
See, if you recall Kevin Kline's character in AFCW, and see how our own colorful one stands up. Me thinks the parallels are striking.
Thanks for yout PS, for a minute there I thought you were serious! Although, the Brits do want to 'Free' us, and everybody else around. In Iraq a few years back, the Iraqi Army and Police would keep arresting these English soliders dressed as Arabs carrying a lot of explosives. Somethings never change.
P.S. How about a Geroge Carlin Theological Seminary on IC?

by Paykar on Sun May 22, 2011 04:20 PM PDTCalled Wanda is one of my favorite movies.
When I refer to a painful history of the 'left', partly, I have the naivet'e and blind following of our fathers and their fathers in mind.
P.S. I was being sarcastic about the "freedom" and the Brits:-)

by Mash Ghasem on Sun May 22, 2011 03:56 PM PDTPaykar jan, this one is one of the more colorful ones. He's rated as a: nameless solider of imam, tudeh, monarchist in disguise,...but remains a sex-crazed faker. Me thinks he's a split image of Kevin Kline's charcter in "A Fish Called Wanda" All and all a fece type of cyber-intervention, at least 90% of the time.
Cold war lingers on, indeedly. While I agree with you on condenming the Soviet occupation of Iran, and its similarity to the Brits occupation in south. At the same time, its truely remarkable just how much Pishehvary (RIP) was able to achieve in two short years. The fact that he was ultimately killed by Stalin (a car 'accident') is another indication of that era's cold war legacy and how 'expediency' ruled the day. Pishehvary was a man of honor, Stalin was not.
In a sense
by Paykar on Sun May 22, 2011 03:23 PM PDTAzarbijan is and was part of Iran when the soviets occupied it. Much like the occupation of the southern parts by the British. I wonder if the gentleman would afford the same right to the indigenous people of the south to be "Free" in the hands of the Brits. It's astonishing, after so much history, to imply/view the Soviets as liberators! Then again legacy of the 'two camp' explanation lingers on...
Moreover, there is no evidence to show the Iranian Azari were eager to be helpful in the Russian revolution of 1905, like they did in our constitutional revolution.
In my opinion, all 'peoples' should have the Right for to determination.
Been there, done that
by پندارنیک on Sun May 22, 2011 02:52 PM PDTOnce we had a much-debated blog here in which the word "freed" was applied to Azarbayjan( spellings vary), it was said then the application of the term "freed" to Azarbayjan was as much misleading as the usage of the term "discovered" for America.
One has no right, absolutely none, to speak for or decide on matters related to that land unless he or she is an Azeri.
very nice

by Mash Ghasem on Sun May 22, 2011 01:17 PM PDTIt's a nationalist song about Azarbayjan. At some points it might have been some type of a national anthem or quivelant to it.
Ano yordom Azaarbyjan
Saneh aziz mehraban saan
Goliem san siz.....
Ghalbim janim san , ghalbim janim saan
Azarbyjanim saan
.......................................................
After thirty some years I still don't understand most of it. We used to sing a lot of ethnic music in highschool, this was one of them, cheers

by Paykar on Sun May 22, 2011 01:05 PM PDTI just checked it on google and youtube. There was a video that had the song Ana Yordem. Is it a nationalistic song? The music and vocal sound nice; I need a translator:-)

by Maryam Hojjat on Sun May 22, 2011 04:12 AM PDTfor this timely song. I enjoyed it. We Iranian must refrain from insulting each others by rude jokes and statements.
