Hi Anonymous

by Nazanin Ghasemian on

I'm not sure about whether those laws apply to this problem.

You can't prosecute a voter for saying "His name means he has the bloodlines" or "I'm not going to vote for that black boy". An Islamophobic or racist constituency in this country will probably vote against its economic interest because of their hate. Karl Rove and his disciples have mastered ways to inspire racist and Islamophobic innuendo that are well-shielded from such laws.

That's politics, but it's starting to cross a dangerous line, as Joe Biden said and if Iranian-Americans, many who do not have names like John Sidney, wish to run for public office, they may face the same criticism.

The McPlain constituents

by Anonymous... (not verified) on

The McPlain constituents remind of me hate-filled communities of ,racist, bigoted, Western-Christian-Jew-Bahia-infidel-phobic gatherings of paramilitary Basiji and militant Hizballohi in Iran mosques roaring up into a vindictive faux frenzy du jour...

As it's clearly evident, the racist, religious-zealot militant nutcases are the same everywhere. At least, there are laws againts racism in this country but in Iran racism and bigotry is the law of the land and state's official position.

Geat Article well written

by Amir Nasiri (not verified) on

This election has raised a great point and question.

Is America truly a tolerant nation as it pretends? Is it truly a democratic and fair country for all its citizen no matter of their color, gender, sexual orientation or religion?

I SAY ver LOUD NO, and once again No and once again NO.

Names such as Hussein, Muhammad or Allah are now becoming synonym with hate, disgust and terrorism.

Remember folks these are the same people who used to call Jews, pigs, black people, niggers, Japanese Japs and Chinese chicks.

Now we are becoming their victims.

Racism against Muslim and people from Middle East has increased and no one dares or has the guts to talk about it.

Why someone's religion should be the decison maker?

Iranians in LA and across North America must unite to address this issue.

McCain's reaction to the "boooo's" even more disturbing

by Nazanin Ghasemian on

Did anyone else notice that after the audience started boo-ing McCain he laughed and smiled? To me, it came across as "I know what I'm saying isn't popular. Hehehe. I tried."

Can you imagine how many Obama votes he might have swayed by responding to the boo's plainly "Cut it out. Let's stick to the issues!"???

Thank you Ebi and Irandokht. I noticed that comment, and it strikes me that we can't even establish a starting place for decency in this election's discourse. We've got a long way to go.

Dear Nazanin

I really enjoyed reading your blog. You explained it well and presented valid arguments.

Please do not try to reason with the anonymous comments who cannot follow logic or didn't even read your entire blog before writing a quick dismissing comment. They're suffering from the first case of islamophobia that you mentioned which I can't find justified either.

Americans have seen 911 and what Muslims can do ... Muslims were, are, and will always be barbaric. So go back to your Ex, apologize, and maybe he will take you back!?
