In White House Meeting: Olmert to Urge Bush to Attack Iran
Think Progress has the details on a meeting between Ehud Olmert and President Bush at the White House. Many analysts believe that as Bush is nearing the end of his term, a strike on Iran is becoming more likely. The following is from JTA:
Citing sources close to the Israeli prime minister, Yediot Achronot reported on its front page Wednesday that Olmert, who is due to hold closed-door talks with Bush in Washington, will say that “time is running out” on diplomatic efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear program.
Haaretz reports:
The moment when Israel and the Palestinian Authority will have to make tough decisions is fast approaching, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told the American Israel Public Affairs Committee conference Tuesday.
“We must stop the Iranian threat by all possible means,” he said.
“Each and every country must understand that the long-term cost of a nuclear Iran greatly outweighs the short-term benefits of doing business with Iran.”
Olmert is to meet Wednesday with U.S. President George W. Bush to discuss the Iranian nuclear program and upgrading security relations between the U.S. and Israel.
As Think Progess notes:
…as time ticks down on Bush’s presidency, the rumors of a possible last-minute military strike on Iran are increasing. The Jerusalem Post reported last month that a senior administration official told Israeli officials to anticipate such an attack.
While the White House has dismissed these reports by claiming they are “not worth the paper they’re printed on,” neoconservatives are getting a very different message. Asked recently whether he could imagine Bush attacking Iran before the end of his term,” John Bolton said, “I think so, definitely.” Norman Podhoretz has made a similar claim. Richard Perle has said he has “very little doubt” that Bush could order a strike before he leaves office.

Looking at the calm Iranian administration vs the angry Israeli and AIPAC shows who is on the winning end...For now.
The more the AIPAC pushes the war, the more they become hated by the general public. Unfortunately in the future many Americans who can't distinguish between the Zionists and Jewish, would just become anti Jewish. That would be frightening.
