Evin prison authorities have failed to transfer jailed Iranian student Majid Dori to a specialty clinic [outside the prison] to seek needed medical aid. Majid Dori suffers from severe headaches and dizziness that sometimes last up to 48 hours. The prison physician has prescribed an MRI scan and a visit to a neurologist for him. According to reports from RAHANA, authorities have not granted permission for the medical order.

According to a report by Kaleme, during an in-person conversation the judge informed Majid’s mother that her son would be granted some time off. Officials claim that the judge’s letter for Majid’s temporary release was lost for the second time.

Majid Dori has been detained in Evin prison for over 15 months, and despite efforts by his lawyer and family to get him some time off, he has not been granted any leaves. Majid Dori was arrested on June 15, 2009 and sentenced to six years in prison exile in the town of Izeh. The location was later changed to Karoun prison in the city of Ahvaz. He is currently held in ward 350 of Evin prison.

Prior to his imprisonment, Majid Dori, a former Allameh Tabatabai University student, was banned from continuing his education as a result of his political activities and memberships in the Council to Defend the Right to Education.

Majid is suffering from migraines and his blood level is severely low as a result of the pressures in prison. Even once his ribs were broken and he hid the incident from his family for a long period of time to prevent feelings of anxiety and distress from developing.

The exiles of Zia Nabavi to Karoun prison, Hamed Rouhinejad to Zanjan prison, and Ahmad Karimi to Qonbad-e Qabus prison increases the danger of prison exile for Majid Dori.
