“Strangers in the Night” is possibly the most popular romantic song which was composed by American songwriters Charles Singleton & Eddie Snyder and recorded by American movie actor and singer Frank Sinatra in 1966.  The music was originally composed by Ivo Robic for the music festival in a place presently known as Split, Croatia. Robic later sang the song in German (Fremde in der Nacht) and in Croatian (Stranci u Noci). A thorough adaptation and an arrangement of the piece were done for Sinatra’s version by Bert Kaempfert, a German orchestra leader and songwriter (1923-1980). Here is the text of the song:

Strangers in the night exchanging glances:
Wondering in the night: What were the chances?
We'd be sharing love. Before the night was through.

Something in your eyes was so inviting.
Something in you smile was so exciting.
Something in my heart, told me I must have you.

Strangers in the night, two lonely people we were strangers in the night.
Up to the moment when we said our first hello, little did we know:
Love was just a glance away, a warm embracing dance away,

And ever since that night we've been together.
Lovers at first sight, in love forever.

Here is the Persian Version of the above song of Strangers in the Night as composed by this author:

It should be also noted that prior to the song of Strangers in the Night, a song entitled as “A Stranger in the Night” had been composed by American poet Senior Hank Williams (1923-1953) and recorded by American singer George Morgan in 1952. The song was poetically written quite professionally but it did not become so popular in the world of music. Here is the text of the song composed by Senior Hank Williams:

I am lonesome for someone, to kiss me good night,
Just the way you used to do,
My aching heart needs someone, to shine love’s light,
For without you, I will always be blue.

If I do not have you, to help me along,
I know I can never go right,
Without you beside me, to show me the way,
I am lost, like a stranger in the night.

Like a lonely dove that flies, from pine to pine,
My heart can not be gay and light,
Like sightless eyes, that will never see the sun,
I am lost, like a stranger in the night.

There is no need for me, to even try,
Nothing will turn out right,
When I lost your love, I lost the will to live,
And I am lost, like a stranger in the night

Like a broken heart, that is lost on life’s sea,
Though I pray with all my might,
I know I can not face, tomorrow alone,
And I am lost, like a stranger in the night.
