Bravely walking the path

Chosen for me long ago

Planned unbeknowst to me

While still in my mother’s womb

 

I may have some choices

Yet, limited they seem

 Doing my best to travel on my path

With all the strength I have

 

I gather all my courage

Facing many obstacles ahead

One by one, overcoming them

Gaining strength and wisdom

 

A fortress I have built around me

An impenetrable wall it seems

Built from many years of struggle

Meant to protect my heart

 

A crystal heart that must be protected

Must not be allowed to shatter into pieces

Its warmth once felt, now since gone

All intruders must be kept at bay

  

Only dear loved ones

Are allowed within the strong hold

All others are challenged

“Poof” one by one, they go

 

 A special key does exist

The heart will bestow the key  

Only the "One" will be my destiny

Chosen for me long ago
