For Those of us Living Abroad

Benross wrote: “Don't look at IRGC as a rigid, unchangeable and determined force. It will wear out like anything else facing the endurance of the movement.”

To understand the endurance and tenacity of IRGC, one only needs to study the decade long Iran-Iraq war. Of course, IRGC wasn’t the only force present in the war. An in depth analysis of that war isn’t my intention at this moment. However, I would like to remind you of IRGC role in that war.

The current situation on the ground is yet to be fully seen and understood by those of us that live abroad. The movement is without a well defined leadership, and many forces are operating in the streets of Iran. Additionally, the Western powers and analysts are totally dumbfounded and don’t realize what fuels the uprising and gives it direction.

Although many of us are in constant contact with the activists back home, none can claim to have total grasp on the situation. Iranian political activists abroad are watching and studying the situation carefully. We ought to know more very soon…

Exhaustion is the word

by benross on

The time is with the movement. IRI can not recruit anymore than it already organized within its repressive organizations. Don't look at IRGC as a rigid, unchangeable and determined force. It will wear out like anything else facing the endurance of the movement. At this point, I'm skeptical about a peaceful transition, not only because IRI missed any opportunity to do so, but also because IRGC is not worn out enough. Time is on our side though, and the longer, the better.

Stand with Iranians

by LalehGillani on

Vildemose wrote: “There will be a bloodbath. How do we avoid that?”

There is no way around it. No one wishes a bloodbath. Not even the regime. Some conflicts, however, force both sides into violence because there remains no peaceful means by which the problem can be resolved. It took our nation thirty years to reach this conclusion.

People like me are often accused of being radicals because we reached this conclusion after the mass murders of political prisoners and the chain killings in the 80’s and 90’s. Postponing the inevitable only adds to our misery and prolongs our problem.

Have faith in Iranian people. The humanity displayed by our countrymen ought to be the source of pride for all of us. The old and the young are putting everything on the line to build a better future for the next generations. We must support them in any way possible, and let them know that the free world stands with them to the bitter end.

One can imagine a dire, extreme situation in which only forceful intervention can prevent mass calamity The IRGC is like wounded animal, cornered and will stop at nothing. There will be a bloodbath.  How do we avoid that?

We should organize a march to Washington and demand the UN to intervene before the bloodbath strats. If we can organize concerts, we should be able to organize a march to voice our anger toward the ongoing holocaust in Iran.

News from Iran: IRGC & Street Fighters

by LalehGillani on

News from Iran indicates that the radical elements of the regime are preparing for more violence and bloodshed. These elements are rallying their base to support the regime and is demanding widespread crackdown on any dissent. The commanders of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have seized this call to begin surgical elimination of the opposition forces.

It is noteworthy to remember that these commanders are war-hardened military men who thrive in armed conflicts and confrontations. In the years after Ayatollah Khomeini’s death, IRGC infiltrated the political posts within the regime. As a result, former IRGC leaders and members now hold the majority in the Majles.

Also, the street fighters are preparing and organizing for an armed confrontation. The seeds for the first cells of people’s militia have already been sown. The resources are limited and scarce, but the spirits are high. Nothing will happen overnight. We must prepare for a long and bloody war.

The word on the streets of Iran is this: IRGC will not back down; this is a war to the end.
