by yolanda on Thu Aug 26, 2010 09:00 AM PDTHi Kaveh,
Yesterday Payvand said that Steel Azin fined Karimi $40,000 and took him back:
//www.payvand.com/news/10/aug/1251.html
I guess the fans protested a lot, so management gave in!
thanks,
Yolanda, no problem...
by KavehAhangarAdel on Thu Aug 26, 2010 08:17 AM PDTI did translate the parts that were significant in my last post about Daei giving props to Karimi.
Great to ehar you are an avid Football fan. Karimi was great and I am sure he has a few more years in him but then we ned to focus more on the youth.
thanks for your comments!

by yolanda on Mon Aug 23, 2010 05:10 PM PDTThank you, Kaveh,
I followed pretty much the entire WC qualifying process: Daei banned Karimi from team Melli for life......later Daei got fired.....Ghotbi got hired.....Karimi got re-instated and scored a goal....
I am glad to hear that these 2 great players get along! Thank God! 10 days ago, I saw Daei's picture in a Persian restaurant in Beijing.....I took a picture of Daei's photo......I will submit a photo essay later to IC......
Sorry I did not understand the video, 90 Navad.......I can't read and understand Farsi......
Glad to hear they are on friendly terms.....I admire both of them.....I watched their soccer videos on you-tube and I also watched Karimi commercial on you-tube.....he is cool!
Yolanda, that news clip you posted is from 2008....
by KavehAhangarAdel on Mon Aug 23, 2010 04:38 PM PDTAnd Daei is now the Coach for Persepolis(I am sure you know) but daei apparently came to Karimi's defense and called him "a national hero" and "one the greatest Football players in Iran."just a few days ago on the national TV show about football called 90 (navad).
They had their differences in the locker room when they played on the national team, Karimi did not play on the national team when Daei became the coach (a very short stint) but came back and played under Ghotbi(the current coach) but again, it seems that he is again crossed off the national team.

Ali Daei Does not Hate Karimi now!
by KavehAhangarAdel on Mon Aug 23, 2010 03:02 PM PDTYolanda, Ali Daei actually came to Karimi's defense in this news bit on program 90 (navad) here is the link in Farsi:
//www.tabnak.ir/fa/pages/?cid=115186
(I am not sure if it fully true or not) but I am sure they had their differences in the past, who wouldn't but Karimi is getting a lot of support now!

by yolanda on Mon Aug 23, 2010 11:25 AM PDTHi! Kaveh,
I have a question: Why does Ali Daei hate Karimi so much? Is that true that Daei slapped Karimi? I read in the following blog that Karimi got slapped by Daei, it is in the 6th paragraph:
//iranian.com/main/blog/eroonman/irans-absence-world-cup-still-smarts
Is that common in Iran that soccer players get slapped by coaches? I hope Karimi is OK!
Thank you again for your cartoon!
Yolanda, thanks for the comment....
by KavehAhangarAdel on Mon Aug 23, 2010 05:08 AM PDTKarimi has been an icon and maybe he thought he was untouchable but what happened to him goes to the root of the problems in sports and that is that religion or government control over something as universal as human competition(that supercedes all of that) should be stopped. We saw it in North Korea as well. Karimi will always have a special place in my heart as he truly played his heart out against Ireland in 2001-2002 and he did it for Iran. Also his performance in the last qualifiers against Korea..... he, again, did it for the people.

Karimi is really cool and handsome!.....He is a great soccer player......too bad that he did not get the chace to play for team Mellli at the beginning of World Cup qualifying games.....and team Melli failed to qualify for WC.....I hope he can come to US in the future.
thank you for sharing!
