Fantastic

this is neither Kurdish nor Gilaki, it's eigther Talesh or Galesh, I think it must be Galesh somewhere in Lahijaan mountains.

don't know where my comment went but

as I said, this is one cheerful clip you posted Kaveh, thank you. The expression on the woman with lava lamp is priceless as is the woman in orange with the stoic face.

I first saw this about 2 weeks ago on one of the (LA based) Iranian channels, and have been searching the net ever since to find it. You can not imagine my joy when I did find it yesterday:)

I did contact the channel to find out more, but they didn't know anything about it.

I think that this is relatively recent (last 10 years) and also pretty sure that it is in Iran.

On a visit to Iran, a few years back, I was invited by friends to a wedding in a village near the Caspian sea (Shomal). The dances, music & colours were very similar. I had one of the best nights of my life :)

Glad you enjoyed it

Kaveh :) WOW!!

by Fouzul Bashi on

This is wonderful but also surreal!!  When, where, how was this filmed?!  Public dancing of women is forbidden in Iran, but the film is not as old as before the revolution.  The scene does look as if it is filmed in Iran and the faces look very authentic.  Do you know anything about it?  Thank you.  I loved it, the music, the dancing, the singing, the dresses, the faces, but more than anything the guts and the passion .. lol

I think both, convey important messages, hence my wanting to share it.

This shows our colourful & happy cultural traditions versus, the Black & mourning infused ones that have been shoved down our throats.

Agree with you on the very uplifting music & the vow dance. I just keep playing it :). I partcularly like the expression on the face of the lady dancing with the lava lamp on her head, its simply priceless!!

I saw the discussion on youtube too, I think its not Kurdish, but can't tell between Gilaki or Taaleshi.

MM

quite a change from your last blog!

by MM on

I have this clip in my ipod.  I do not quite understand it fully, but a very uplifting music and the dance is wow.

I do not know what the differences are, but there is comment in youtube that this music could be Taaleshi, and not Gilakii!
