Ms. Lauren Booth's Conversion

I can understand how Ms. Booth sympathy for Palestinians & Muslims may have driven her to become a Muslim. Yet, I wonder if, as a journalist, she had been assigned to cover the Rwanda's civil war in 1990s, then how that would have changed her. Would she have then become an animist?

Since she works for Press TV, and in effect, for its owner, government of Islamic Republic of Iran; has Ms. Booth considered how this government has been treating its own people for the past 31 years, particularly those among them who have had the courage to stand for human and civil rights?

Has she considered that there is not a single Muslim country where its citizens enjoy the same measure of civil and human rights as in Western Europe & North America?; and for that very reason, we have seen large migration of Muslims into these Western countries in the past 3 decades, including a substantial percentage who are very fervent and practicing Muslims. If Islam was so great, why these fervent and practicing Muslims abandoned their Islamic homeland to seek a better life in Western Europe & North America?

As a journalist:

Has Ms. Booth ever bothered to wonder why the Islamic Republic of Iran has the highest number of imprisoned journalists in the world?

Has she wondered why the Islamic Republic of Iran has the highest number of executions per capita in the world?

Has she wondered why the rights of women are so curtailed in the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as nearly all Islamic countries, and how their governments treats their own female population?

Has she wondered why only women are subjected to stoning in Islamic Republic of Iran, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and certain regions of Islamic Republic of Pakistan?

She is introduced by Mohamed Ali Harrath, a man of violence who hoped to start a Khomeinist revolution in Tunisia in the 1980s. He failed and fled. He found refuge in the United Kingdom in the 1990s under John Major’s Tory government. He got a broadcasting licence too – he is the CEO of Islam Channel.

And here is some appalling reporting of this story by the Daily Mail. Look at this line:

The 43-year-old mother of two, who has long sympathised with the Muslim cause, described how she had a religious awakening six weeks ago on a visit to a shrine in the Iranian holy city of Qom.

POLITICS AND AFFAIRS OF HEART

by Kooshan on

If Ms. Booth is enlightened, I feel so happy for her. I'm sure some will love her and some will ridicule an dtry to put her down. The fact of the matter is she is a wise lady who has traveled the world and is politically aware of her sorroundings, unlike many of us who gets their news from the sources that resonate with our belief.

The article says:

"Has she considered that there is not a single Muslim country where its
citizens enjoy the same measure of civil and human rights as in Western
Europe & North America?|"

I need to say that it is so naive and arrogant for us to close our eyes on the rising tide of Muslim population. Every nation has their ups and downs. Islamic golden era had passed few hundred years ago. When Europe was going thru dark ages, Muslims had their time of their life. Were we able to put down China rising? NO! We, as a matter of fact, helped China to become a giant! .....And now we can ridicule and arrogantly bash a once vibrant civilization (just like China was during Haan's).

My point is, it is naive to summarize Mislims as barbars, but the fact of the matter is the civilization is finding out it's way to come out of ashes and plat it's vitality.....AND...Ms. Boothis aware of that!

Ha! Darius was wrong and he can't admit it.

It's amusing to see a man found to be wrong and incapable of admitting it to himself. In America, we call such behavior childish. Who knows what they call it in France. For all I know, it could be considered acceptable behavior in France.

But hey, considering the source's worship for a family of undeniable losers, we're hardly surprised by any of this.

Q's right about this character.

PATHETIC.

Is this how you French engage in political discussion? By making outlandish, untruthful claims? And when confronted with the truth, rather than admit you're wrong, you just link to other people's irrelevant YouTube clips and photos?

Mitterand Shaking Hands with Pétain 1942 and René Bousquet 1974

by Darius Kadivar on

Mitterand's Controversial Past and last minute conversion to a Vichy Opponent in the last months of Pétain's Treacherous regime are well known facts which were kept silent during the first years of his presidency:

François Mitterand with René Bousquet in 1974 next to Mitterand's wife Danielle Mitterand at Mitterand's Private Summer Residence at Laché:

//www.fil-info-france.fr/rene_bousquet_franco...

Bousquet was a radical-socialist notary and infamous Collaborator who overlooked the deportation of Jews of Vel' d'Hive to Nazi Concentration Camps. Bousquet served as secretary general to the Vichy regime police from May 1942 to 31 December 1943. He remained a Protegé of Mitterand until the Scandal broke open and his trial for Crimes against Humanity was to take place. Bousquet was assassinated in mysterious circumstances during the Trial in question by a man later on accused of being an mentally instable person. What a Happy Coincidence ? ...

The Result was that the Trial never took place and Bousquets revelations on his relationship with Mitterand never exposed to public knowledge.

Come on, Darius, specify the arms sales sold to Iran post-79.

If memory serves me correctly, there were a few deliveries made on pre-70 orders in 1980. But go ahead and enlighten us on the French types sold and delivered to Iran post-79. I'll bet you can't.

There weren't any aircraft, tanks or artillery. No munitions to speak of.

There may have been a couple of missile patrol boats delivered from pre-79 orders, but this is hardly equal to the 100+ Mirage F1 combat aircraft sold and delivered to Iraq during the war.

Get your facts straight, Darius, instead of merely reconstituting Parisian political talking points and rhetoric.
