I was driving across the Bay Bridge to San Francisco today. The radio was playing Christmas songs. "You're A Mean One Mr Grinch" came on and I laughed and smiled all through it. These days I often feel I have a lot in common with Mr Grinch .Khoda naseeb e hichkas nakoneh :o)

I always liked the grinch better!
by bahmani on Mon Dec 10, 2007 12:03 PM PSTIf JJ is considers himself to be "the mean one", I'll take that gladly. I only wish he was the meanest one, ergo the world would be heaven if it were so. To those who have only just been made aware of JJ's "shady past" I think the heartfelt reality of JJ's somewhat penitent comments over having gone through the revolution the way he did, is enough for me. No need to punish him for it, just because you think you've found an easy target. That is the real definition of mean. To understand JJ, all you need to do is to have lunch with him (which he will gladly take you up on), and if after that you think he is a sly power mongering evil IRI mole, than you will know 2 things, 1) you are completely and utterly crazy and need immediate therapy and/or medication, and 2) JJ never finishes his vegetables. Merry Yalda!
You? Grinch? Kouroush Sassanian ?
by Mojdeh (not verified) on Mon Dec 10, 2007 11:46 AM PSTNo way, you are from from it. What Kouroush Sassanian is talking about?
You are not mean JJ
by Azarin Sadegh on Mon Dec 10, 2007 11:44 AM PSTHi JJ,
The mean ones have hurt us all. But what is really the meaning of the meanness?
Who is the meanest?
The one who makes a mistake or the one who observes and makes fun of other’s mistakes? The one who tries hard to build something and fails or the one who tries hard to destroy? The one who writes the article about his failures or the one who crushes the writer for failing?
The one who kills by accident or the one who executes on purpose?
I can keep asking similar questions forever, but today I am down and tired of questions. I wish I had more answers.
Besides, you are not a mean person. Not at all. If you were truly mean you would have remained silent and you would have enjoyed your meanness, not letting yourself in the open and to let the usual crowd eating you alive out of boredom.
Cheer up jj and then teach us about the benefits of optimism.
Azarin
To Dr. Maleknasri and Koroush
by Rosie T. on Mon Dec 10, 2007 11:42 AM PSTDr. M, No I did not have any idea about the Christmas trees being sold in Tehran! Thanks for the fascinating detail! I agree with you, it is too soon in some ways to understand fully the legacy of the early years of the Revolution but nevertheless an analysis must begin and it must include dialogue between ALL parties and ALL ideologies.
Koroush: there's much wisdom in much of what you say...but please remember in the end we all have to live with our demons...many people think Shahis should apologize for causing the antecedents of the Revolution....they see you the way you see JJ...ain't it ironic? ain't it funny...on this...Cyber..Ship...of Fools....
Best, Robin PS Koroush, I'm NOT speaking for JJ or ANYONE. I am speaking TO you as ME.
You know what you are!
by Kouroush Sassanian (not verified) on Mon Dec 10, 2007 10:58 AM PSTGrinch, oh so cute! You are the greatest, you have done nothing wrong, betrayed no one, you are kind, you are loving, was not part of the IRI's government...no, you are just cute and the greatest...
But, the problem is that you need to be told that you are good, because you don't even believe it.
You are not entirely good or bad, but what you have done in your past haunts you. It will haunt you forever! Yes, you say you never pulled the trigger, but you never stopped the trigger from being pulled either. In fact, your job was to grease the mechanism of the pistol used to murder thousands of Iranians.
At the end, you will have to live with your demons - Grinch or not!
Me too!
by sima on Mon Dec 10, 2007 09:37 AM PSTNothing wrong with Mr./Ms. Grinch.
Happy Holidays Jahanshah!
by Nazy Kaviani on Mon Dec 10, 2007 08:18 AM PSTJahanshah:
You are the farthest thing from Grinch! There's not a mean bone in your body! I laughed imagining you singing that song in the car! Contrary to what you say, I do believe you are in the holiday spirit full swing, and you have started by making fun of yourself, and that's great. Happy Holidays!
what the fuck...

Answer to Parham
by Rosie T. on Mon Dec 10, 2007 06:58 AM PSTIt is a joke and a reference to JJ's last photo essay and thread.
In the spirit of the holidays, I sought an appropriate quote for this post from the venerable Dr. Seuss's writings, and instead this one from Wikipedia about the "Cat in the Hat" caught my eye:
"the Cat performs all sorts of wacky tricks to amuse the children, with mixed results. The Cat's antics are vainly opposed by the family pet, who is a sentient and articulate goldfish."
Gotta love that wikipedia....
Bobby Sands
by Parham on Mon Dec 10, 2007 05:02 AM PSTIt's actually Bobby Sands street.
But what made you all deduct he's feeling mean over what happened 30 years ago?
REPLY : MR. MEAN & THE YEARS OF CONQUERY OF BLOOD OVER SWORD 1
by Faribors Maleknasri M.D. (not verified) on Mon Dec 10, 2007 03:56 AM PSTI think it is too soon to ask for an explanation of those years. They are stil not over. they last - so God will - up to Reappearing of 12th Imam. The Iranian - I mean the ones who live in IRI - younger generation will have to keep and protect and defend what the years of conquery of blood over sword have brought. since 30 years they have done well. they will continue. Last not least in Tehran they sell Christmastrees in the BOBY JONES Street. You know him? Greeting.
just spend some of your times on driving and look around

So...
by Rosie T. on Mon Dec 10, 2007 12:12 AM PSTthat is your explanation for the Khomeini years. It all had to do with Dr. Seuss. Good work, Fearless Leader. I'm sure the younger generation will be enlightened by it. :o)
