Watch this new documentary about genetically engineered food in the United States. What's happening as a result of the industrialization of farming and the food industry is extremely worrisome. I'm all for scientific discovery and technology. But the giant companies are using science purely for profit without proper regard for environmental and health issues. And government agencies are doing next to nothing to monitor and regulate these dangerous practices. Watch this film, go organic, and spread the word >>> thefutureoffood.com

great post
by Organic NUTritionist on Mon Oct 26, 2009 03:05 PM PDTThanks for informing everyone. I must say that after watching this film, I started watching and reading about other organizations and was disappointed to find that the American Dietetic Association has sponsors like Monsanto (SoyJoy), Coke, Pepsi, Kellog, to name a few...

Tastes great... less filling
by John on Thu Oct 08, 2009 07:45 PM PDTMonda I agree with you about the great-tasting chelo kabab and ghormeh sabzi and...
I was merely making a point about limited resources eventually forcing humanity to make big decisions such as meat vs. wheat.
Also, I would have to say that my choice for the most delicious Iranian food that I've been exposed to would be the meatless aashe reshteh. Elohi that's delicious!!!
not really John
by Monda on Thu Oct 08, 2009 11:43 AM PDTfind healthy meat at your independent health food store (expensive but how often does one eat kabab?)...it's important to find out which local ranch the cows are from and find out what their practices are. It takes research but chelo kabab or Ghormeh sabzi are definitely worth it! vaght ke hichi, jaan be fadaaye shekam:o)
Thanks for the link to this production
by Monda on Thu Oct 08, 2009 11:35 AM PDTturning vegetarian is the way to go - that is local and organic for sure.
You may find the independent movie "Food, Inc." also interesting. More detailed info on the evils of Monsanto. (it creeps me out that they call themselves "my health"!)
Bad news for kebab lovers
by John on Wed Oct 07, 2009 09:15 AM PDTI'm sorry for having to tell you carnivores, but the future of food is vegetarian. The resources required to raise cattle, poultry, etc to maturity (i.e. to your plate) is just too great in a world with 7 billion (and counting) inhabitants. Throw in the loss of land to housing and roads, and the coming problems with water supply and distribution, and the days of your juicy kebabs are definitely numbered.
This is proof that you are back in Berkeley

Voila another strong argument in favor of Ghorme Sabzi!
by Azarin Sadegh on Tue Oct 06, 2009 11:58 PM PDTPlease be careful Jahanshah! Watching this kind of video might be the cause of your nightmares...:-)
