Diversify, Diversify, Diversify.  Western Europe needs to diversify it sources of natural gas or risk freezing itself and its citizenry because of its exclusive reliance on Russian natural gas.  The best alternate candidate as a source of natural gas is Iran, and accessing Iranian natural gas requires massive capital and technical investments and assistance by European countries in developing Iran's natural gas fields and the pipelines needed to deliver that gas to those European nations.  Iran's Golden Era lies not behind it, but before it.
