Name-calling may be valid but it is still counterproductive in this instance. People on IC are pretty intelligent. I do not think calling someone a label in a post will change perception of anyone. For example I already know what I think of various people. If someone were to call them Zionist it will make no difference to me. It just sets up a hostile tone.

Please note that I am not picking on anyone. I have done it myself. Maybe it is hard to see the effect as a poster. But when I read them I just cringe whenever someone goes like that at someone else. I just tend to skip the whole post. What I mean is that the message gets lost in the name calling. And the message may be very valid and the reason the post happened!

Relevant name-calling or rather labeling is a valid. But what these Islamists do, i.e. call anyone who exposes the Islamofascist regime in Iran 'Zionist' or 'AIPAC-funded', is what I call fictitious and malicious labeling. For more info on this matter refer to my blog.

I hope you excuse me for addressing you on the same line, You know both how much I value your opinions and at the same time I recognize that your anger has its roots in your genuine care for your homeland and its people. Therefore it is natural to see you both angry at the slightest suggestion that there might be a plot at work to either invade that homeland or prolong the rule of the current regime over the same land.

So I cannot see why you and (the rest of us in general) don't focus on the common area of our inetests (which are vast) and leave the differences to be settled at a time when our common interests are served?

Ladies, Gentlemen..... Please!

It makes me so sad when I see some of the finest minds on this website get themselves into such an uncontrolable and vicious cycle of unpleasant exhanges and hurtful remarks. Behind every avatar and userid there sits a human being with all kinds human feelings. Here we may be just a shadow of our true selves but even shadows can convey feelings and receive them too. I know that I may not be the best person to give such advice as I am guilty of such behavior in the past but I have tried and still keep  trying to learn from my mistakes and make up for the hurts I may have caused. By this I don't mean that I have to agree with others viewpoints but I can state my stance on different issues with none or minimal damage to the othe side's personal feelings.

I hope I am pardonned for this interjection but sometimes I think and despair when I see that what feats could have been achieved if all the energy and efforts that are placed in these arguments were chanelled into one cause: Iran's freedom - which I am sure is in the hearts of every one of you. Thank you.
