Forced freedom Iranian style!
by Esfand Aashena
25-Aug-2011

Freedom is not a complicated idea and for those of us who live in the West, America for example, it's daily life and we don't haggle about it.  But here on the pages of i.com it's a constant battle.  Freedom is this and freedom is that.  Tolerance is this and tolerance is that!

Some want to go to a blog, get into a pissing contest with someone else regardless of what the Blogger wants.  In i.com there is a difference between a blog and an article.  When you submit an article it is out of your hand and you have no control over it, zero, you don't even get to choose the title or the photo.  But in a blog you have the option of deleting your blog and when the blog is turned into a pissing contest between a few the Blogger can choose to delete that blog and perhaps start fresh.  Some have done this in the past.

I'm not asking for suggestions on what to do with unwanted comments and Bloggers.  Not asking for suggestions on what to do with Bloggers who intentionally comes to your blog for pissing contests!  Not asking for suggestions on what to do with Bloggers who are either trolls or idiods who come to your blogs to say one thing to you and then the opposite to others to annoy you and others!  No suggestions because we're maxed out with suggestions and are waiting for promised changes "by the end of the summer".

What I am saying is to get off your high horses!  In Iran, Islamic Republic and their goons like their freedoms but don't care about others.  In Iran we have freedom of speech but we don't have freedom AFTER speech!  Here on the pages of i.com we're haggling about freedom BEFORE we give a speech whereas you are free to speak!  Use your own god damn blog and say whatever the fuck you want to say!  Who is stopping you?!

But I know talking about freedom of speech is more tantalizing than practicing freedom of speech!  Some always have tunnel vision and blame others for their own shortcomings.  Some people want to be annoying and pride themselves on being annoying and imposing themselves on others and there is nothing wrong with it, for themselves.  The challenge is what to do with them when they challenge you with their annoyance.

write in a blog that you started but I will no longer address you other than in response. If you promise to not address me then I will not write you. But I may write in any blog I want as a poster. Those are IC rules.

If you don't like them start your own web site. No one is stopping you. Why are you so obsessed with me anyway? Don't you have anything else to do? I just don't get what your non stop preoccupation with me. I know I am great but you got to have more going.

Do us all a favor and stop writing to me. I have no interest in talking to you. I do not appreciate your language; insults and general attitude.

Truthseeker is entitled to his/her opinion. Souri is someone I consider a friend but we sometimes disagree that is the way it is.

If you don't like my blog: don't read it. I owe you nothing and I do not expect you to be "nice". Remember you are the one who is unable to control his temper not me.

How do I force myself on people? As they say: don't read my posts! No one is forcing you.

One last time: don't write to me. I post wherever I want as long as I obey IC rules.

If the shoe fits!

by Esfand Aashena on

Even Souri and Truthseeker who disagree with me agree that you ARE an annoying person who jumps from one point to another contradicting anything and anyone, including yourself!  There is near unanimous conset!

When you come here to give a two bit comment about "points of the blog" you're proof positive that you are not "nice".   Yet you write a blog and ask OTHERS to be nice!

Bottom line, like the Islamic Republic and MKO with their annoying habits who force themselves on people, enjoy your stay while you can, nothing lasts forever.

I just followed your pointer and read the comment "One more thing JJ". What is the problem with it?

  • JJ does own this site. At least I think he does along with the investors.
  • IC has been an exceptionally free site.
  • In my opinion putting restrictive comment control will make people leave IC. Or at least the blogs where that restriction is in
    force.
  • I think your insulting words like the title of your post do poison IC.
  • If the do add comment control I will boycott all blogs that use it. Unless the blogger does not use comment control.
  • Rest assured I have little interest in much interaction with you. Of course there may be times our paths cross. But I hope to keep it to a minimum.

You may hold me to all of the above.

PS,

I do not think calling JJ "VF" is very nice.

I'm waiting for comment control to come so you can get lost!

by Esfand Aashena on

I was going to use your comment that you left on another blog of mine at 10/2/2010 at 1:32 PM with subject "One more thing JJ" and "reply" to it and provide a link but because of shenanigans displayed by you and others the i.com VF closed it!  But here is the link and when we get comment control I'll show it to you again to hold you to it!

If you get

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on

If you get "comment control" then you can go talk to yourself. Because some blogs will turn into "Sahih ast Ahsanat" rubber stamp forums. You can have a poll and delete all the votes that go against it. Then you get 100%.

It is not a new concept. It was done for many years by the Shah. Did not really help his cause did it? He "deleted" any comment he did not like. In fact so does IRI. They close any paper they do not want.

Honestly I have little use for this blog so for now I am moving to greener pastures. You go on and have your blog! In fact you could even start your own site where you get to delete anything you want.

Truthseeker people shouldn't have a "special right" in my house.

by Esfand Aashena on

JJJ says a lot of things!  He also said that he does not want to be the one in charge of deleting comments.

We started this new format of i.com by first all anonymous comments, then went to moderated comments and we are now in all registered comments.  During all these changes there were naggers all along (like you know who :-), like many who are nagging now with their freedom BEFORE speech!

When we get comment control for bloggers, what JJJ has promised somewhat, many of these incivility and mommy I'm a stranger will be gone and no one will have a special right to make a fool of himself/herself in my house!

Point of blogs

by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on

I did notice that the writer of this blog did a poll a while ago. Then decided to selectively count people disregarding some.

The
point of a blog is not to push the idea that the blogger wants. It is to have a free discussion. Within IC rules. Now if I make a blog and others disagree with my point so what? Maybe I learn something from them. For example I learned that I was wrong about Mammad. I had in the past been too critical of him. But I have found new respect for the man.

As for "control freak" that means someone that wants to control things. I am not sure who "Truthseeker" means by control freak. But I assure you I am not one. I do not try to stifle speech by making accusations of libel. I do not tell people to leave "my" blog. I have defended banned people even when I disagreed with them. In fact when anonymouse returned I was one of the first to welcome that person.  None of this matters if someone has already made their mind.

Thank you for flagging the insulting post. I rarely go this this person's blogs. But I do want to take the time to thank you.

I remember JJ said "people have a right to make a fool of themselves" so let these people do that. Although it is frustrating to deal with control freaks or pushy customers, they will get the reputation they deserve. That is the name of the game in Free Speech. Verbal diarrhoea is not so annoying to me as insults which are not profanity. A lot of people are allowed to get away with insults in this place. But I suppose Admin also says this is freedom of expression.

"Falgging" as a tool to suppress the opposing view...

by Roozbeh_Gilani on

Is applied, quite successfuly on this site, unfortunately. I  myself am a favourite target for the "Flagging brigade".

But fortunately there is a real world out there much more important than iranian.com

My advice to everybody: Chill and take this site for what it really is. no more, no less.

I controlled myself and didn't chew his arse too much!

by Esfand Aashena on

There wasn't any hot and heavy comment.  Some get dizzy hearing the word "fool" or "martike chadori".  As far as I'm concerned everyone is welcome to come to my blogs and say a comment or two or three or more as long as they're saying within the subject and not escpaing to Karbala or Sinai!

I really appreciate comments.

Problem is when someone thinks s/he is the Lord of the Rings and should say something about everything and be all over the place!  Worse if they want to get into a pissing contest.  Worst when they're yapping and yaking about freedom of speech!

To me the respect of anyone is in his/her hands and as far as I'm concerned I'll treat them the way they treat others.  There is so much we can do here but I'll do what I can and hopefully others do the same!

Everything is sacred

Your "Martikeh Chadori ..." comment, was flagged by me

by Souri on

Anonymouse;

You can't see the difference between being annoyed and being insulted?

This is your problem in the real world. But in this virtual community, we don't allow insults  to the members who are annoying, but by no means they insult us!

You said your blog is your house! You are wrong. You are already in the house of someone else! Let say: We all are invited to a big house, where we all have the right to take a speaker and go on the stage, to speak.
But we have no right to kick some of the people out of the house, just because they talk too much or their comments annoy us. Many time in the past, you have deleted your blogs which were going "wrong" in your opinion. This is not right!

You are abusing this privilege which is given to the bloggers, to delete their own blog in some specific cases, not each time they don't like the comments there!
I can understand if you flag an insulting comment in your own blog, but asking people to go out, just because you don't like them, is not your right! Especially with that insulting and disgraceful tone.

If you can't stand the heat, get out of  the kitchen.

As simple as that!
