You got it all wrong, the purpose of my statement was mainly to save everybody’s time here by not going over repeated remarks, it would be fair to everybody if the commenter goes over the prior comments before he starts with his own.

Also I gave updates on the petition just for the sake of everybody’s information; there was no intention of bragging about the number, which as Bavafa said, it was not so surprising number anyway.

You cannot say you are proud on one hand to list number of people for your Hate capaign (400 or so), and then complain when more and more people (like Farhad450) state the same reason against it. This is not about being "LATE" or seeking your approval for a sensible opinion.

To Bavafa: I know the undertaking maybe a long-shot but thatis the initial perception for all the noble ventures.  

To Soosan Khanoom: The only fear to fear from is the fearitself.

In my opinion this is a hate petition. You are projecting your anger from the regime towards all muslims. Iran consists of diverse groups of people. If you don't respect the rights of moderate respectful muslims then you don't deserve freedom. I am not suprised, I see this sort of hate from iranians all the time. This is the reason we are not united. The hate unity doesn't count, actual unity consists of organization and action by respectful iranians. Again recognize that we are a diverse group of people. If you want the non-violent struggle to work then you should close your petition. Ask for federalism, secularism or other forms of government that respects the rights of all.

Not so surprising result. 445 people so far wish to rid Iran from Islam and what is the population of Iran and Iranians?!?!?!?

Don't get me wrong, I am all for shedding organized religion from the face of earth… but it helps if we understand and grasp the notion of 'sange bozorg alamate nazadan hast'

Maybe if all efforts are put to bring freedom of expression to Iran which is arguably more attainable, it would help and take care of the other issue in long run.

Its a very natural reaction after 32 years brutality on the name of God and islam, the anger you can feel today is very understandable, we can you like it or not ! but its just a process ...you can not kill rape, impose veil, ban music ,lash for a beer your own people on the name of islam and ask them to be quiet  and tolerate everything !!!

Between a theocratic country and a secular (or laic) country, there is a VERY IMPORTANT STEP, that we can't ignore !!

Fighting against religious on power, we need a demystification, bringing down each mola ,and make religious people understand their religious is sacred ONLY for themself not for others, this not about personal attack just a intellectuel improuvement by writing publishing anything even if religious get shock, they have to learn to accept it!

And we can not reach a healthy secular country if you don't impose them to back up from public place. ( per example no more religious  in all school books  like we saw in every book in iran). Dear Dr. Rastan, thank you for starting this petition. It is about time we raise the consciousness of the world about the genocidal atrocities commited on the Iranian people by Islamists.

I agree 100%, an Iranian is NOT a muslim and a Muslim is NOT Iranian. Islam is a religion which does not recognize sovereignty of Iran, but only of Islamic Clergy. Therefore, it is in direct contradiction with our Iranian nationalism. Islam is anti-Iranian, as such it needs to be eradicated /abandoned/removed from Iran.

Now, lets work on how we can have a democracy. Intellectual does not necessarily refer to a scholar and/or a philosopher. By definition, Intellect refers to the ability of the mind to come to correct conclusions about what is true or real, and about how to solve problems. A person who uses thought and reason in either a professional or a personal capacity is often referred to as an intellectual.

Based on this definition everybody can claim to be an intellectual since everybody is entitled to his opinion and nothing is wrong with that. The outcome could be the generation of millions alternatives, which would be left for the readers to select the optimal one.  

Also I am not worried whether the idea is progressive or not since this is the natural trend for any new idea, they all have a slow-pace start.

but when I see blogs like this from Iranians who claim to be intellectual I really think there is no hope for Iran, and see why we perhaps as people do not deserve Democracy. I do not think your actions or proposals to be progressive at all. I wish you luck with your campaign.

There is a difference between Idiot-ism and having faith

There is no discrimination, bigotry, racism, chauvinism, etc.,here more elaboration on my last comment, on the sentence:

First, this sentence is written in the context of the people of Iran, second I said if you knew Islam then you knewthat you are either an Iranian or a Muslim but you cannot be both, which meansif you read your Quran you will find hundreds of commands that violate the principlesof human rights, which contradict the sanity of a healthy mind of a Persianwhose every act of life is based on goodthought, good dead, and good talks.  Soit is just a warning for those who don’t like to be disturbed and prefer to beleft alone in their winter sleep, and of course it is their freewill to do so howeverthey will be Muslims who choose to live in Iran.

The criminal Islamic regime in Iran is operating exactlybased on Islamic rules, i.e., you can find verses that justify those tortures,rapes, murders, etc.,  keep in mind thatthey are doing it because our people let them do it, why?  Because our people believe in the Islamic rules,that simple!

As a result even if you all get united and managed tooverthrow the brutal Islamic regime in Iran, as long as the Islamic mentality rulesover the people, no substantial change would have been achieved.

I am not fighting and I don't even know this guy.

My question is can I trust a person with a racist bias to advocate democracy in IRAN?

Iran is made of ethic Arabs, Turks, Lors, Baluch ,armenian,assyrian

and all others.

You either believe in a principle or you don't. How could I put down

other people  and consider them inferior and beleive in democracy ?

How would I assure all other Iranians (regardless of their dialect, background) that tomorrow is a better day when today I am uncapable of practicing it and put it into action.
