Three weeks ago I wrote: "after the election Karoubi has shown more leadership and courage and the torch should be passed to him(//iranian.com/main/node/70437) ," and reiterated that again on July 5. 

I also wrote that we need " in front of march (all of them from Mousavi to Khatami to Karoubi.... in the front marching from one side of city to another. Either all would have been arrested or attacked (highly unlikely) or people and them would have been successful.."

Today this became a reality and with rafsanjani's attendance at the Friday prayer and with Montazeri's and others' calls for everyone to attend and with joint attendance of many of the religious moderate leaders such as Karoubi, Mousavi etc the regime was left with no option but to let its own weekly prayer to continue.

Once again (same as election) regime's own tools were used against it and the moderate leaders by being among the people and not in their homes provided the atmosphere and partial safety for more people to show up. Iran needs more days like today where leaders are in forefront of rallies and marches.

....and once again Karoubi was the man who was at the heart and among the people. He was reportedly even once attacked by plain-clothed thugs on his way to Friday prayers (his party said on its Web site). Here's an account, in Persian, from his son
