Rigi
by Veiled Prophet of Khorasan on Sun Jun 20, 2010 03:27 PM PDTFirst I am opposed to the death penalty.
I am also opposed to separatism. Specially the violent type. The Iranian people are all victims of IRI. Turning it into an ethnic issue is wrong. It is just the oppoiste of what we need to be doing right now. We need unity not division. People like Rigi should be stopped. However executing him like this is wrong.
Furthermore IRI lack legitimacy required to deal with Rigi.
What we need is:
Darius, your perspectives
by Sargord Pirouz on Sun Jun 20, 2010 02:22 PM PDTDarius, your perspectives are hopelessly out of touch. The fact that you hurl so many YouTube videos is evidence of that. It's all noise to obstruct the fact that Iran got its man, and justice has been served.

Making a hero out of a killer 101
by comrade on Sun Jun 20, 2010 08:11 AM PDTOne can argue over the political merit of Rigi, and his organization endlessly. I personally don't approve of a separatist movement in the context of today's Iran, for its potential consequences which might alter the sovereignty of our land irrevocably.
Stopping Rigi's organization, and its likes by diplomatic efforts, is the only commendable way, which is doubtlessly beyond the vicious mentality of IRI.
His execution, specially in the presence of his victims' survivors was a barbaric act, which has, of course, the IRI's natural trademark.

Correction: USA #4 in Death Penalty (Top 5)
by Javan on Sun Jun 20, 2010 07:23 AM PDTAt least the USA & Iran agree on the Death Penalty! LOL
Capital punishment, or the death penalty, is the execution of a person by judicial process as a punishment for an offense. Crimes that can result in a death penalty are known as capital crimes or capital offences. The term capital originates from Latin capitalis, literally "regarding the head" (Latin caput). Hence, a capital crime was originally one punished by the severing of the head.
Capital punishment has in the past been practiced in virtually every society, although currently only 58 nations actively practice it, with 95 countries abolishing it (the remainder having not used it for 10 years or allowing it only in exceptional circumstances such as wartime)
Europe and Central Asia is now virtually a death penalty free zone following the abolition of the death penalty in Uzbekistan for all crimes. There is just one country left — Belarus— that still carries out executions.
In the Americas, only one state — the United States — consistently executes. However, even the USA moved away from the death penalty in 2008. This year, the smallest number of executions since 1995 was reported in the USA.
The majority of countries now refrain from using the death penalty. Furthermore, in 2008 Amnesty International recorded only 25 out of 59 countries that retain the death penalty actually carried out executions. The practice of states indicates that there is increasing consolidation of majority international consensus that the death penalty cannot be reconciled with respect for human rights.
Despite positive developments a number of tough challenges remain. Countries in Asiacarried out more executions in 2008 than the rest of the world put together. The region with the second highest number of reported executions was the Middle East.
In 2008, at least 2,390 people were known to have been executed in 25 countries and at least 8864 people were sentenced to death in 52 countries around the world.
Some of the methods used to execute people in 2008 included beheading, electrocution, hanging, lethal injection, shooting and stoning.Javan - Clueless as Usual
by Onlyiran on Sun Jun 20, 2010 07:17 AM PDTThe U.S. does NOT lead the world in executions, China does. Followed by your beloved Islamic Republic in a close second. Now bear in mind that these are RAW numbers, which mean that percentage-wise, IRI's executions per population is number 1 in the world. Congratulation!!!!
