The German Guy was :Wilhelm Karl Wassmus

by Darius Kadivar on

He was known as the "German Lawrence" for trying to Unite Iranians against the British, the same way Lawrence of Arabia plotted against the Germans in the Middle East.

It was a battle between the British Empire and the German Kaiser to try and get control of the region. Interestingly I came across a decendent of the Wassmus Family on the internet. He told me that the German TV had contacted him for a film or documentary on his great grandfather.

I think it would be great if they did a Motion Picture Remake of this story and the Deliraneh Tangestan's heroism. I remember how anti Clerical they were and were counting on the nations patriotism rather than the sermons of the Mullah's in the Mosque. The actors were really charismatic. I'd like to know their names and try and find out more about this excellent TV series.

A true Classic.

I WAS LOOKING FOR ANY CLIP, ANYTHING, ON THIS SHOW.

This video must have been posted on Youtube recently. I googled the hell out of google, in English, in Farsi, to find some clip on this TV series and I couldn't find any.

This is my all time favorite TV show. It was a well made, well acted and historically accurate TV serial made in the mid 70s. It had around 13 one hour episodes.

At 2:22, I think it's the German guy who at one point saved the daliraans by machine guning hundreds of British and their hired Indian soldiers. I loved that episode!

Foaad: it was originally made in black and white. They probably colorized it using available technologies.

Thanks for posting this clip, it brought many memories back, I do not think I missed an episode back then. :)

I loved this series

I watched it when they played the whole thing in the 80s. It was really well done. I don't remember it being in black and white though.
