ARCHITECT OF THE ‘GREEN BELT’ POLICY

************************************

************************************

Mr. Brzezinski’s is said to have been responsible for the American “green belt” Policy when he was United States National Security Advisor during the Carter Administration. This policy essentially posited that the spread of communism in the Greater Persian Gulf Region (GPGR) could be quelled and rolled back by using Islam. In other words, a fervent radicalized Islam, could guarantee that communism wouldn’t spread. If indeed that was the eminent diplomat vision, then it is of no surprise that the Reagan administration took that advice and supported the Talibans subsequently with the consenquences we were to witness on Sept 11th, 2001.

I can't say that I blame Zig......he was doing what he thought was the right thing at the time......to him, human rights meant very lttle - although it was what his President used to fool Iranians.

My beef is with the Iranians who were fooled by him - and with the sellouts like Trita Tazi who serve as his Nokars against the best interests of Iran and Iranians.

Is tge same moron who sent gen buyer to Iran, under the shahs nose, to neutralize the army - and kill all the dangerous figures who would organize a coup and prevent Carter's plans for installing Khomeini.

This turkey face idiot has the blood of hundreds, if not thousands, of brave Iranian soldiers on his hands

Zbig's Containment Strategy

by Faramarz on

Thanks DK for the post.

One lesson that the Iranian-born Swede Trita should have learned by now is that you never arrange a meeting on a Monday morning after Thanksgiving weekend, because you will end up with a panel like this and Barbara Slavin as the only recognizable reporter!

Trita did his usual, “let’s remove the sanctions” thing and generally stayed away from the human rights issue. However, the discussion by Brzezinski was noteworthy. Zbig is an advocate of a Soviet-era containment approach. Also as the key architect of the “Green Belt” in central Asia and Iran, he seems very sensitive about humiliating the Regime in the negotiation process! Here is what he is proposing.

Let the Regime do what it wants with the nuclear material. Build a NATO-style defense around Iran to protect friends and allies (Obama is already doing that). Let's hope that the Regime will not use its hand full of bombs on Israel because Israel will retaliate and obliterate Iran. The Regime will not hand over any bombs to Hezbollah because the stuff is too complicated and should be handled carefully. Then switch gears to a Carter-style human rights campaign in Iran and force change.

In other words, first create a cold war environment with the Regime and then use the 70’s and 80’s solution to bring it down.

I would say let’s stick with what’s working right now and build on it. We have already lost more than one generation of Iranians to this Regime. Let’s not prolong the agony.
