Come on Q. Don't
by Anonymouse on Wed Jul 29, 2009 04:29 AM PDTCome on Q. Don't be like that. The whole idea of the green movement is to be together. Especially, the more the better, from all sides because the less the same old status quo. Come on get on with the program.
Everything is sacred.
The many meanings of green
by javaneh29 on Wed Jul 29, 2009 02:35 AM PDTGREEN is the colour of hope, growth, youth. In mythology it is known for immortality and resurection... the Egyptian god Osiris.
It symbolises deomocracy, non violence and social justice and environmentalism, and is used for many organisations .... Greenpeace for example. Its the colour of prosperity ... used for bank notes the £, $'s etc.
In Iran green was the colour used in poetry سبز گندم گون sabz-gandom-gun(literally "green wheat colored") or سبز مليح sabz-malih ("a green beauty").
For traffic lights universally it means 'go'.
In love means jelousy, it represents Islam in flags, in nature and the army, its the colour of camouflage, its the colour of witchcraft, decay, in the far east its seen as the colour for sickness and nausea.
So green has many meanings

LOL Kadivar, you are very funny!!!
by Q on Wed Jul 29, 2009 01:24 AM PDTWhy do you say "YOUR" color?
Green looks great on you, as does the Hezbollah style headband.

by rosie is roxy is roshan on Tue Jul 28, 2009 06:09 PM PDTif you don't want 'rivers of blood in the streets' and/or a foreign-installed puppet government where Iranians blame someone else every time their nephew sneezes (the latter ain't gonna happen under Obama anyway..)..
take it or leave it. It is what it is.

It wouldn't matter if they pulled the balls out of a toilet
by Multiple Personality Disorder on Tue Jul 28, 2009 05:16 PM PDTThe fact will still remain the same, which is the masses of people are on the move and they have chosen to rally behind green color.
Our GREEN color has its roots
by Mardom Mazloom on Tue Jul 28, 2009 07:19 PM PDTin Mitraism. A francophone like you should have read Salomon Reinach, « La morale du Mithraïsme », Cultes, mythes et religions, Tome II, Éd. Ernest Leroux, Paris, 1906.
The GREEN color was the symbol of resistance and liberty for persians before Islam and without knowing these historical facts it became again our color for freedom.
The color designating AN was the national flag...
Further, in a real democracy, people has to choose their flag like what happened in Canada with the maple leaf emblem, and imposing one's choice on this matter is to be as despot as A.N. or K.R.

red darim ta red
by IRANdokht on Tue Jul 28, 2009 09:06 AM PDTI've seen Iran's map in red, a huge red blob on white resembling blood stain and red apple avatars recently used by some friends who are sworn enemies of the left and "communists". Very distracting to say the least :o) can't keep track of who's supporting Iranians anymore.

Their red is ala red
by Anonymouse on Tue Jul 28, 2009 08:40 AM PDTTheir red is ala red state blue state. The red avatar was there before and Republicans or Communists or those who just like red color use it ;-)
Everything is sacred.
Thanks DK
by IRANdokht on Tue Jul 28, 2009 07:53 AM PDTIt's good to know that calling the green "sabz seyyedi" and feeling all offended by the color was just a load of crap! ;-)
On a different note, it was fun to watch grown men get so excited over a few colored balls applauding each color like a little kid. Thank Goodness Mousavi didn't end up with the yellow... not so many positive things to say about that in Farsi!
I now wonder why some of the Iranians are starting to use red in their
avatars etc... Have you noticed them too? Does that mean they're supporting Ahmadinejad?
