Thinking in a Bubble; What has become of us?

It is becoming almost like a crime on Iranian.com to have any apathy toward suffering of other people and nations other than Iranians, to the point of absurdity. These  selfish and self centered attitude is no more obvious than extremist on both sides.

You are accused of being a Zionist agent, war mongering bigot if you criticize atrocities of IR regime in a non stop fashion. Ever rightfully too, since it is obvious that there are extremist elements present in IC that are for certain hired agents of Right [aka self-righteous]. These group go as far as propagating the air tight sanction against Iran, which a certain first  step is total war against the nation of 70 million. Sadly enough under the ever so obviously  transparent disguise of patriotism.

Same  is true about the opposite extremist group. Ones who non stop are at criticism of the Israeli and American policies in occupied territories, and Palestinian issue. Again rightfully so since there are known elements of hired agents of IR propaganda machine who are present here, and constantly are at white washing and distraction of public opinion in respect to atrocities of Islamic Regime by blaming it all on the others. Sadly enough again, under the transparent disguise of human rights.

These two extremes unfortunately have the most hate filled, audacious and the loudest voice.

In the middle are caught ordinary compassionate human beings who feel pain anywhere that there are injustices.  These people feel as much pain and despair when the see killings, beating rapes of beautiful young women and men in Iran that has been going on for decades, as they feel the pain of the Rwandan people, where million have been systematically raped and killed, same way when they see shattered and mutilated bodies of defenseless school children, women and man after the 72 hour of constant areal bombardment of Gaza by Israeli gunships.

These normal human beings  see and empathize with any homeless children in the US, as the cry for orphaned children in Haiti. They are anguished when they see a child from Iran who is crying over his killed parents, as they are by  seeing scenes of devastated mother in Gaza holding the shattered boy of her child.

To these normal, humane, compassionate and loving  people, pain and suffering has no boarders. To these true humans, there is only ONE human population in the world. People are not divided along their race, religion, nationality, language, gender, age and traditions.  People, for this group, are only divide by amount of love and compassion that they can project toward one another, or hate for that fact.

To those people on the extremes, I say: You have the right to hate to your hearts contend and be indifference as much as you wish, But do not tell me how I should to empathize with the citizens of the world. If in your twisted logic, being compassionate and caring toward EVERY human being who suffering under any form of injustice make us agents of this and treacherous toward that, then so be it.

Mola thanks for your comment

You're right. I'm guilty of taking the bait even after warning others not to. Sometimes it's fun, I'll admit. These clowns are funny. Now I'm a Palestinian operative. LOL. Hello Habibi!

Marge, Jeesh Daram

Captain, good points. Since each person can have as many names as he/she pleases I have to conclude on Iranian dot com

سگ صاحبشو نمی شناسه.

They say what they want, and then come in with a new name and a new "identity" and play the same game. That's one of the main problems but the site needs "traffic" and so it goes.

Farah Rusta

Dear Captain

by Farah Rusta on

I am not sure if I follow your argument . Perhaps I should elaborate my point a bit. My comment addressed to Marge was to highlight the fact that human rights is not exclusive. If the Shah had to ruthlessly put down the mullahs-led revolt of 79, he had to kill hundreds if not thousands of people across the civil and political spectrum. I found Marge's claim to support human rights and his criticism of the Shah for not to have crushed the mullahs, shall I say, conflicting.

But about your point about the Sharia Law and Bahais I must point out that both Reza Shah and his son M R Shah removed one of the most important institutions of the goverment, meaning the judiciary, out of the grasp of the clergy. They extended this to the education sector, mixed schools for instance, and Iran was a secular country during the reign of the Pahlavis. There was no official law exclusive to the Bahais but Bahais were employed in all levels of public and private sector, enjoyed education and even found their way into the top government posts (his own private physician was one). This was in direct opposition to the continuous demands by even the softest of top clergy like Shariatmadari. who always demanded a restriction of the Bahai involvement in political and other public and private sectors.

I hope I understood your point correctly.

By Akhund, metaphorically I was and I always am referring to the ideology of Sharia Law and mixture of religion with politics, as it applies to Iran.

Little historical back ground on that. The fact that Shah never passed  a constitutional law to protect Bahai's like other minority religions, in order to appease ultra zealous Akhunds of the time, has brought upon this unspeakable suppression of Bahie' people in our nation. Which went on even during his own reign to a lesser degree.

Of course this is not say that today's Akhund Ideology would not have repealed it.

Farah Rusta

Marge?!

by Farah Rusta on

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't you in one of your comments  recently say to the effect that the Shah's fault, among others, was not to have crushed the mullahs in '79 and left us helpless for the bait? Surely crushing the mullahs required some degree of, shall we say, loss of human life. How can you justify such a hypothetical action in the light of you support for human rights?

Marge vibe of the site = vibe of the world

by capt_ayhab on

Your kind words and compliments means the world for me. It is so disheartening that so many educated, talented, kind by nature can give into hate so easily.

The of vibe of the site that we are experiencing is a very good sampling of the vibe of the world. Best sampling for that fact.

I appreciate you a lot.

It's pretty weird, actually

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

GREAT blog. I always like your style. You express the vibe of the site very well. Right now I'm sensing a lot of hate and antipathy, but what else is new? I Wish there could be more harmony no matter what we might believe. Instead I read Olagh and Fart that. Then I remind myself: It's just a site. Not reality. But what is reality anyway?!

Some people think that you can't be supportive of human rights causes other than Iran: Iranian, Chinese, Palestinian, and Kurdish. How can we expect anyone to care about our native country when we laugh or say "not my problem" when they have theirs.

These users are also behavinglike someone is asking them for money when they encounter a comment about the Palestinian refugees. You don't sacrifice anything by saying that human rights are important everywhere: America, Iran, Palestine, and elsewhere. It doesn't cost money or flesh. It's free.
