Children Are Gifts From God

A customer and his six or seven year old son came in today. The boy at once made a beeline to where the candies were. His father called him to come to the counter. The boy did not listen. The father ran to him, took him by one ear and pulled him all the way to the counter. I went next to the father and said in his ear: now you do this to this child and he is going to do the same to his children and possibly to you when you are too old and frail. Be a good teacher and love him and kiss him so he will do the same to his children and possibly to you when you are old and frail.

He walked out of the store without buying anything, dragging the child behind him. Some people do not learn.

TO Mona 19

What you wrote is so correct and true.

I have always believed children are mirrors that remember. So do well in front of them and they will do well. Act ugly in front them and they will act ugly.

You're right, Children learn what They live ...

by Mona 19 on

If a child lives with criticism
he learns to condemn.

If a child lives with hostility
he learns to fight.

If a child lives with ridicule
he learns to be shy.

If a child lives with shame
he learns to feel guilty.

If a child lives with tolerance
he learns to be patient.

if a child lives with encouragement
he learns confidence.

If a child lives with praise
he learns to appreciate.

If a child lives with fairness
he learns justice.

If a child lives with security
he learns to have faith.

If a child lives with approval
he learns to like himself.

If a child lives with acceptance
and friendship he learns to
find love in the world.~ Dorothy Law Nolte (1954)
