In the Western Hemisphere, Costa Rica is the only country without an army or military of any kind. Costa Rica is among the countries with the highest amount of protected land in the world; 25% of the national territory is dedicated to the national park system or biological, marine and land reserves, as well as other natural wildlife areas. Here's a short clip of scenery and wildlife taken during our recent trip to the beautiful Costa Rica. Pura Vida!

Thank You Bahram!

So.....holy christ, that WAS the Pacuare River with that high concentration of crocodiles? They will be with a local organization Associacion Excelencia Familiar to do volunteer work for at risk children, build library and work in agricultural coops. So for Manuel Antonio National Park, Volcan Arenal and rafting trips they will have local guides, I just hope that the boat wouldn't tip over in that kinda water! I am sure they will find them safe place away from snakes in the rainforest campground. I am glad that July and August is past the rain season. Thanks again, it looks like a gorgeous country.

I was there about 4 weeks ago, that was the end of their rainy season. The hot and humid weather is March through May. I visited Manuel Antonio National Park and it is defiantly a good idea to have a guide with you since there are wild animals all over the place.

The similarities knocked my socks off!  I'm checking out the expat community there for future professional opportunities

BTW bahram was that chimpanzee sitting next to you, yours?  Was her name Merilyn by any chance? Growing up in Tehran I had heard of a family owning a chimpanzee named Marilyn (after Monroe)?

Question for Bahram & MeyBokhor

by Jaleho on

Thank you very much for your clip. Actually, I was planning to send my daughter there for a 3-4 weeks trip that she really likes to go in the summer. Something she likes related to a Global Literacy Program from her high school.

I got a couple of books and few videos to check the place out as I have never been there myself. The videos really scared me since it showed huge number of SNAKES (I hate them!) and lots of crocodiles, just like your video is showing! Since part of her trip would require camping in the rain forest and days of rafting in Pacuare River, it gave me a pause if I should send her to all those snakes or not!

Also, which month did you go there. Meybokhor can give me a good idea since he lived there too. I read that the summer can be the heavy rain season which one might want to avoid? Is there any advantage to July vs. August?

Thanks for any additional info.

Monda, more sunsets for you

by bahram9821 on

Monda, it felt so much like being in north part of Iran, same kind of roads, small villages between the cities, very nice people. Here is a clip of shomal, see if you see any similarities .

A beautiful and peaceful country indeed

I lived there for a couple of years in the early 80's. Two best years of my life.
