On February 11, 2010, many Iranian women in Shiraz, Rasht and Tehran (in Vali-Asr Square and Aria-Shahr district) took off their compulsory Hijab to protest the Dictatorship of the Mullahs. Although they were beaten and arrested by the IRI's thugs, the websites of the Green Movement refused to diffuse this important news or pay attention to this apect of the women's struggle for their freedom as part of the Green Movement. The so-called Islamist feminists (sic) were discouraging women from engaging in this type of action as well.
For how long are the secular women going to be led by the religious groups of this movement?

This was mentioned
by Nur-i-Azal on Wed Feb 17, 2010 01:03 PM PSTOnly on Twitter, IIRC. I was wondering the same thing myself why the mainstream international and the opposition press weren't reporting it. Very fishy...
I read about this
by People You Think You Know on Wed Feb 17, 2010 12:19 AM PSTI read about this on Twitter on Feb 11 - but have yet to hear mention of it since. I think their bravery is amazing. Thanks for the reminder.
Anyone have an English link for me? (One of these days I'll become literate...)

by yolanda on Tue Feb 16, 2010 12:40 PM PSTI recall during the campaign, Mousavi and his wife mentioned that they wanted to honor the Islamic dress code.......so I am not surprised that they did not cover the hijab story 'cause they are not on hijab protesters' side.....
Azadeh Khanoom - You keep on the path. Nice cartoon.

by MM on Tue Feb 16, 2010 12:20 PM PSTI contacted the 100 foreign journalists that covered the Azadi sq. on 2/11/2010 to see if they had a story on Iranian women unveiling, but unfortunately they all decided to attend an AN home-coming party after his speech and were too pooped to pop in and cover the protests afterwards.
So, there you go. We have to rely on the word of mouth on this one.
Vildmose jan what took so long??
by HollyUSA on Tue Feb 16, 2010 10:07 AM PSTHonestly I always wonder why some bother. But at any rate, better late than never. You should start a blog on this. There are more that should go on that list too. The blog can be updated and re-posted everytime more users who condone rape and murder of innocent regime protesters show up. If nobody engages them or reads their blogs they'll go away. Make sure everyone not to click on their blogs either. They have nothing of to value to offer anyway.
dorood bar shir zan irani
by hamsade ghadimi on Tue Feb 16, 2010 08:22 AM PSTazadeh, those who publicize the green movement and related events such as the beating of mousavi's wife or karoubi's son don't have the same courage as the women who took off their hejab and got arrested.
vildemose, interestingly in his blog, iran was the last place that he listed as his travels. i wonder if he even went to kindergarten there.
tahgord, first you have to define "define."

The green movement is not about women's equality and justice . It is not opposing sexual appartied . It is islamic and ati - modern because of the nature of the leadership .
It is all a fight to get other " Akhoond zadeh ha" in position of power .
