This comment section and its related policy is a never ending story. The discussion never goes away and JJJ has rightfully decided to ignore all questions and inquiries about it. So here's what I've gathered so far on what can or can not be said in the comments section.
Your comment is meant to be deleted otherwise it wouldn't say "Flag as abusive" right below it! All comments from all views and races from all over the world carry this "Flag as abusive" international flag! Do not waste your time or our time or JJJ's time by asking why this or that comment was deleted. The real question is why some comments are not deleted!
Our concept of freedom is what we've learned from our adopted countries not what we were taught at home. In Iran we're supposed to delete our own comments and now we're singing like canaries about freedom of speech and comments! As if we have such beautiful legs that we need to insure them for a million dollars!
So no more questions about why my comment was deleted. Screw your comment! It is a worthless piece of crap that should've have self-deleted itself! Is this clear now?! Good! Now let's move to the next question!

Definition of Roni
by Faramarz on Wed Dec 29, 2010 07:51 AM PSTRoni is short for tenderoni, the kind of girl that stands out in the crowds. And generally found in places that sell ice cream, fruit, tobacco, shampoo and fruit juice!
"After all this time, I finally found myself a 'roni'. " Bobby Brown

So at firsr he was a man-whore! I just want a one or two sentece major story for him, like it would say on his tomb stone.
For Ali, he was Muhammad's son in law who had a dispute with Omar as who should be the Khalifeh. He was then stabbed with a then Samurai/Arab sword while he was praying. He died two days later. So his murder is a 2 day holiday/long weekend.
For Hussein, he was Muhmmad's grand son and then he went to fight Yazid and was killed in a desert. It is not known if he died as a result of thirst in the desert or being stabbed. His nephews, otherwise known as Teflon Moslem, were with him as part of his entourage in the desert who were also killed by Yazid. His death is a month long mourning.
For Meysam, ________

"Maysam" was one of the first, and possibly the most ardent, disciples of Ali, who is the first Imam in Shia Islam.
His father was not much, but he himself became an icon in Shia Islam.
That's all...

It's not the first time I go off topic...
by comrade on Tue Dec 28, 2010 01:56 PM PST...Then let me go to your top photo with a tiny disclaimer which should make it clear that I don't know this store, its owner(s), and their political/ideological association. But I know the diehard Hezbollahis in the early years of the revolution chose the name "Maysam" for their new born boys.
It was kind of fashionable in those days; Maoists for instance chose "Neemaa" etc.
Now, as I said I know nothing about this store's owner, but I can claim his father was one IRI agent!!
I'm just wondering if my comment is worth a flag.

Fish here, all comment and no contribution
by Anahid Hojjati on Tue Dec 28, 2010 01:23 PM PSTmakes for a lousy dialogue partner.
About comments,
by Fish Here on Tue Dec 28, 2010 01:12 PM PSTComments should normally be a sign of dialogue, but that is not alwlays the case. On this site, too often people leave comments on their friends' blogs, containing exactly nothing, just to give them some "haal". Then the blogger him or herself appears to "thank" his or her friends' comments, adding to the comment count. There is nothing wrong with this, but there is no "dialogue" in blogs where this happens, and the high comment count doesn't necessarily mean anything substantial is inside.
As for comment deletions, people who delete entire blogs with dozens of comments from other people, containing dialogue, just because they can, should not complain about one or two comments disappearing here and there.
People who change their comments 180 degrees, from attacking someone in version 1.0 to complimenting them in version 2.0, to putting a dot in version 3.0, disregarding all the other dialogue that was shaped around their first comment, do not make good dialogue partners.
The "dialogue" on Iranian.com is a fast dying concept, with people doing strange revisions or going for complelte destruction of others instead of aiming to understand and be understood.
Yawning and LOLing don't mix!
by Anonymouse on Tue Dec 28, 2010 01:01 PM PSTAnahid jaan is there anything that hasn't been said on i.com? Sure if I say something somewhere it may get deleted but it doesn't mean the subject of my comment hasn't been said before on i.com. Right?
All subjects from Islamic breasts to human rights and everthing in between has had its chance in here!
MM jaan you can't yawn and LOL at the same time. Take your pick!

Dear Anonymouse, it is not as bad as you wrote
by Anahid Hojjati on Tue Dec 28, 2010 12:50 PM PSTAnonymouse jan, you wrote that:"No one knows what the heck is going on in here! It is basically like going to a party with all kinds of people where we can do or say whatever we want!". I don't agree with this. IC has a policy that with blogs, writers have much freedom but as far as comments, it is not the case of whatever we want to say. At least, that is how I understand it. Sure, sometimes, we may not agree with what is said but there are some rules. It may not be 100% clear or 100% followed by IC admin, but there are some rules. Take the case of flagging. This gives the offended reader a chance to voice that he/she has been offended. But then IC admin gets a second look at the comment and they may decide to keep the comment. Any way, it is not quite like you wrote.
Yawn - LOL - have your !#$% examined

MM jaan your comment is a worthless piece of crap!
by Anonymouse on Tue Dec 28, 2010 12:45 PM PSTJust kidding! But this is not a serious discussion about comments or comments policy. It is a simple reminder not to be singing canaries with such raucous voices!

If a comment does not
by MM on Tue Dec 28, 2010 12:40 PM PSTIf a comment does not contain literal "insults", it should stay. I have noted that some of the comments before insults start with condescending remarks, even as simple as a YAWN or LOL remark, that escalates into an all out war of words. As a result, if we cut the insults and not the condescending remarks, we will have a string of smarta$$ remarks in a blog. Suggestions on policing remarks will help your cause and will save a lot of headaches for JJ and the IC administrators.
Unfortunately, some of the comments towards the IRI-supporters contain more "literal" insults than anything in the opposite direction. Although one can argue that what IRI-supporters write are insults to one's intelligence, personally, I would rather sit down with someone like SP and argue that he should wish the same freedoms he enjoys in the US for Iranians as well. AND, not be happy with the status quo, even if it is the reallity on the ground.
Personally, I do not think I have ever flagged a comment???
Man che midoonam!
by Anonymouse on Tue Dec 28, 2010 12:39 PM PSTI remember a while ago if we pressed JJJ about what is right and wrong he suddenly said "man che midoonam" and basically gave up! That used to be his trademark response but he has since given up on it.
No one knows what the heck is going on in here! It is basically like going to a party with all kinds of people where we can do or say whatever we want!
Also PS, the picture is a store in Darband in the road that goes up to the dead end of Darband median with the boy scout statue.

Anonymouse jan, cheghadar banamak valee confusing
by Anahid Hojjati on Tue Dec 28, 2010 12:23 PM PSTIn your comment, as you are writing to me, then you write about shampoo and dandruff. I am thinking what, what does this mean? But then I looked at picture for this blog and doozareem oftaad. I think as publisher of the site, we have to realize that JJ knows many issues regarding IC that we do not know. However, that does not mean that we can not have our occasional differences of opinion with JJ. It is just that there are things about IC that we do not know and we do not know that we do not know them;-).
Anahid jaan instinctively we're ALL sensitive about deletions!
by Anonymouse on Tue Dec 28, 2010 12:14 PM PSTThis is a generic blog and not specific to anyone and if anything it is meant for eveyone because at one time or another we've all complained about either a deleted comment of our own or someone else's!
BTW I just remembered the Sehat Sadr shampoo is a dandruff shampoo, like Head and Shoulders! Now I don't know if Sehat and Sadr means Head and Shoulder somehow!

Dear anonymouse, I don't complain about my deleted comments
by Anahid Hojjati on Tue Dec 28, 2010 12:04 PM PSTIn the past few days, two of my comments have been deleted. On a regular basis, I change my comments. This morning, I self deleted; by putting periods, in couple of my comments to a certain IC writer since this person does not acknowledge my comments so I thought that he/she does not deserve them.
Any way, for past few months, I have not complained about my deleted comments; that is if I remember correctly. I think if a comment of ours get deleted and we would like to complain to JJ, we better be sure that we have a good case. Any way, the two comments of mine that were deleted, truth be told, they deserved what they got.
