In the name of God the compassionate, ever merciful

One of the most important functions of the Household (AS) of the Prophet (SAWW) was helping the people and their community to overcome their problems. They would use their own ability in conjunction with the commands of the holy Quran to accomplish that. Please refer to a previous writing named ‘Mercy’ for more details of the important issue regarding help for the poor and the needy. As an example on why it was important to do that can be based on what Imam Ali (AS) had said regarding what would be the result of having a good attitude towards the people and helping them.

Imam Ali (AS):
“Live amongst people in such a manner that if you die they weep over you and if you are alive they crave for your company”

Even when dealing with their opposition, no matter who they were, the Prophet (SAWW) and the members of his Household (AS) always treated them with mercy when they were in a position that they could do so. Again, please refer to a previous writing named ‘Mercy’ for more details regarding mercy towards enemies and opposition.
