Photo essay: Oakland's support for Iranian people

On Tuesday, July 7th 2009, City of Oakland became the second city in the Bay Area (after City of San Francisco), to pass a resolution in support of Iranian people after the June protests. Local activists Farrokh and Dorsa Barzin and Enayat Katouli made short presentations to Oakland City Council, requesting the city's expression of solidarity with Iranian protesters. This is a part of an ongoing effort by Iranians in the Bay Area and nationwide to seek similar resolutions from city councils all across America to bring attention and citizen support for the situation in Iran. They hope to have 500 cities across America join this initiative. In the Bay Area, cities of Richmond and Berkeley will be appealed for a similar resolution next week. The Oakland City Council passed the resolution unanimously. The text of the resolution is on the following photos taken from the ceremony at city hall:

It often makes me wonder how can Iran have a fair election when a lot of basic issues are not done correctly. There are a lot of things which need to be corrected, including our culture. And as very recently people in capital city can not even breath fresh air.

Which one in those photos were yourself?

Good job.
