P.C.E.D.: Five volunteers who were arrested at the independent relief camps set up in northwestern Iran to deliver aid to victims of last month’s deadly earthquake have been transferred to Evin Prison in Tehran. Navid Khanjani, Hooman Taheri, Sepehrdad Saheban, Esmail Salmanpour and Massoud Vafabakhsh were transferred from the Tabriz Police Detention Center to Evin Prison in Tehran.
Earlier, the authorities had announced that all the volunteers detained at the aid camps had been issued bail provisions, but the judge has apparently not accepted bail for some of the detainees.
Thirty-five people were arrested on August 20 at a camp set up by volunteers in Sarand village in Eastern Azerbaijan Province.
Two days later, all the women and three men were released on bail. The 21 volunteers who remained in custody issued a joint letter to the head of Iran’s judiciary to protest their arrest and to complain that security forces were misrepresenting their attempts to deliver aid in the disaster zone. The judicial status of 16 remaining detainees of the relief camp, currently inside the Police Detention Center or inside Tabriz Prison's Quarantine Ward remains unknown.
Hossein Ronaghi Maleki, one of the detainees, is reported to be in poor physical conditions. Ronaghi is reportedly suffering from kidney bleeding inside the Tabriz Police Security Detention Center. Iran’s Prosecutor confirmed the arrests on Monday, adding that the suspects are accused of sabotage. Fate of another relief worker, Saeed Shirzad, who was separately arrested in the earthquake region in Azerbaijan in August also remains unknown.

Phony Relief Petitions
by Faramarz on Thu Sep 06, 2012 08:39 AM PDTAlso, shame on those who signed phony petitions to send money to the Regime under the cover of "Earthquake Relief", knowing quite well that the money will end up in the hands of those who imprison innocent Iranians.
SHAME on you and your Shiat republic of Zereshk!
by Roozbeh_Gilani on Thu Sep 06, 2012 08:33 AM PDTThat is all I can say about a Fascistic regime so unpopular, so frightened of and hostile to and isolated from the masses of people, which would attack, beat up, arrest, jail and torture a group of earth quake relief workers!

ننگ بر آنانیکه از این زندانیان شجاع برای هدف شخصی خود سؤ استفاده میکنند
Iranians of all walks of life taking a stand for their freedom and just rights. They are to be commanded and supported by all freedom loving folks.
Iranians need to stand united in their support for these brave souls, support their goals and aspiration for a free independent and prospers Iran.
Foreign nations which thru their apartheid policy practice the same insanity and unjust detentions cannot be a good example for the future of Iran and need not to apply.

Regime change for Iran's sake
by Fred on Thu Sep 06, 2012 08:17 AM PDTMessianic Islamist Rapists, “reformers” and all, are predators; the only way to end their reign of terror against Iranian people and the world at large is regime change.
Backbreaking airtight sanctions plus air/naval quarantine in addition to logistical help to the Iranian people to overthrow the Messianic Islamist rapists is a must.
